It makes winning your division more important and has more teams playing meaningful games in September

no. you're not.

1) makes winning you're division more important.
2) as a part of number 1, being a WC doesnt come with the same privileges as winning the division like it used to.

in football u play an extra game. i see no problem with it here and to make them play 2 out of 3 for the wild card isn't feasible to me.

It depends on what side of the coin you're on. If you're a team like the Pirates who were ahead of the Giants in the wild card and lost, then you're gonna say "well, if this were the old way, they would be in LA right now getting ready." I like it, but I could see why fans would hate it.

It adds some excitement to the sport (so would setting the ball on fire), but I still think it's stupid to have 162 games come down to one between two teams with different records.

what about the Giants last night?

3 years ago it would have come down to nothing for them. They would have just been at home.

And no one would have given it a second thought because they only won 88 games.

I like it. I think it'd be even better if it were a 3 game series that took place immediately after the regular season ended. Then make the NLDS and NLCS best of 7.

The wild card should be a best of 3 and the rest of the rounds should stay the same.

I hated it at first. I thought it would dilute the post season and bring it ever closer to basketball's mess of a playoffs. I also didn't like the fact that a superior team could lose out because of one bad game. It felt cheap.

But... I love it. It doesn't dilute the pool of teams at all, and gives September a playoff atmosphere throughout.

I'm gladly admitting I was wrong on this one.

Let me guess you started liking it when the Giants won the game on Wednesday

If I'm not mistaken, there wouldn't be a 1 game playoff, Pirates would advance through tiebreakers.
