KC were composed on defense, mound, and plate. Mets were not. Resilient freaking hitters they have.

I know the series was 4-1, but these were pretty damn close games.

Hopefully, the Mets get a 2nd chance at the WS like the Royals.

Can't say I'm upset the Royals pulled it off in five. They were arguably the best team in baseball wire-to-wire.

kind of funny to think the Astros had them on the ropes in Game 4 of the ALDS.

Also kind of funny how that was viewed as a choke in the moment (and I guess it still is) and by the time the World Series was over, those come backs were just a part of the deal with playing the Royals.

Props to the Royals. They were consistently great all year long and played their best when it mattered most. Good on them for also proving that you don't need superstars in your lineup to win in October if you have great pitching and timely clutch hitting. Doesn't hurt to play elite defense either.

My man fellow George Mason alum Dayton Moore the GM of the Royals now has a ring too. :)

If the Mets had played in a good division they may not have made the playoffs. That's the kind of competition Kansas City had. If Colon had pitched more in game 4 the Mets may have won the game. If Collins had taken Harvey out after the walk(before he allowed the double) the Mets may have won game 5. I'd even argue if Harvey comes even close to his potential the Mets win game 1. The Royals may be the luckiest team in the history of pro sports. Officially my least favorite team in baseball now.

Unfortunately I don't see the Mets spending big money in the future. When their top pitchers want to get paid the Mets won't be able to put a good supporting cast around them. I expect this will be their best shot at a World Series. I hope the American League can put up a great team next year.

They beat the Blue Jays.

A good team but far from great. No idea what your point is.

That their three best opponents weren't the Pirates, Cardinals and Cubs.

he is right to an extent, al didnt have any championship level teams to challenge royals. mets was a worthy opponent though.

There was nothing uniquely easy about KC's run. The playoffs are always a crapshoot. At least KC actually has a good case for being called the best team. I prefer that to a lesser team getting hot in October like is often the case.

The Jays were the best team they could have faced. They absolutely were a 'championship level team'.
