Yes, please.

I wouldn't go that far.

They're about equal in terms of making poor trades for value.
But the Diamondbacks roster is nowhere near as poorly constructed as the Padres was and that's not a variable that can be looked over.

What did you think last season was when we traded Upton, Heyward, and Kimbrel? This is just a continuation of that plan.

Yeah, gotta think about how there were virtually no pieces to work with in San Diego before last season. At least the D'backs have guys like Goldy, Yasmany Tomas and AJ Pollock. There's a foundation to build around, and now they have two very good pitchers to hold down the top of the rotation.

I wouldn't live in a house built on the foundation of Yasmany Tomas. Dude was terrible.

"When you look at Shelby Miller, you're looking at a guy who was traded for Jason Heyward, who is worth $200 million"

Stewart, Dave

This is real life.
Probably said this with the same look he had on his face when he found out that hooker he was with was a tranny. :o 8-)

I'm out.

I mean at some point you gotta choose some guys to build around. Unless you just wanna be the 76ers of MLB.

Well the A's sure gave up on Lawrie pretty quick. After trading the league MVP for him.

We're building around Freeman, great pitching, and hopefully (if pans out) Swanson.

Coppolela and Hart tore down a team that could never win it all, acquired a lot of good pitching prospects, now I think the plan is to flip some of those prospects into good position players the way we just did with Miller.

To tear everything down is a dirty job that requires guts, with all the fan backlash to follow. But at the end of the day we'll be better for it.

Heyward on the Nats would bum me out. They could actually make the playoffs with him on the team.

Dunno whether or not the Cubs will cash in on all these offseason moves but the Cardinals certainly are weaker.

St. Louis will still find a way to make the playoffs. Pretty much a given every year. NL Central best in baseball.

Damn I really wanted Heyward. Would have been a perfect fit: lefty bat with some pop that plays great defense. Nats actually offered him more money but his Cubs deal gives him an opt out after three years so he can hit FA again before he's 30. Smart move.

We've done a good job retooling our pen but still need a legit closer and another bat or two. Based on years past I think Rizzo has a big out of nowhere move up his sleeve.

The Dodgers could just pay Puig to go away. That would help chemistry.
