should be one of the more interesting off seasons we've seen in a while.

Greinke
Cueto
Price
Leake
Lackey
Zimmermann
Heyward
Gordon
Cespedes

Dodgers need a new manager.
Scioscia can officially opt out of his deal with the Angels

It'd be nice to see the Yankees go after Dee Gordon. Not in the "let's throw Ellsbury money" sense, but in a "we desperately need competent middle infielders" sense.

you're talking about trading for him right?

I want the Nats to go after Heyward hard. A Harper/Heyward/Werth OF with Mike Taylor as the 4th OF would be great. We also need another lefty bat with Span likely gone.

We also need to complete overhaul our bullpen. Lot of work for Mike Rizzo to do.

Just LOL at the Nationals.

How was Bud Black your guy and you missed on him? I dunno. Go figure.
Absolutely unacceptable.

Good luck with Dusty

Damn... I forgot he's under team control for another couple of years. He's gotta go through arbitration if they don't get an extension done.

Rogers won't increase the payroll again, even after seeing what an active fan base can do for the bottom line (40% increase in company's overall profits for quarter thanks to 2+ million viewers per game in regular season and nearly 5 million in playoffs). Rogers owns almost all the media in the country (including having exclusive broadcasting rights to the Jays) so they see a direct benefit from these viewership numbers.

I hope this piece of **** company goes bankrupt and has to sell the team. But that won't ever happen because they have protection from the government (yes, our government has legally forbidden competition in the telecom industry so Rogers can maintain their monopoly). To make Toronto sports fans' lives even more miserable, they own the Raptors and Leafs as well.

We either blow it up in the offseason or stay the course for one more season. I imagine we sell off a few pieces to get younger in preparation for another two decades of rebuilding. I'm not very optimistic about our future with Shapiro taking over drafting duties from AA.

Unbelievable. I'm so pissed at this. Its not so much the hiring of Dusty Baker that angers me(even though I do NOT like him at all), its that we wanted Black but decided to go super cheap and lowball him because our owners don't believe in paying Managers. I mean you spend $200+ Million on Scherzer, but you're not willing to spend an extra $1-2 Million on a Manager? Just ridiculous.

And ultimately we end up with an old guy who has no concept of the modern game. And the ironic thing? Dusty is Matt Wililams's mentor. LOL! What a disaster. Can't wait till he burns out Strasburg's arm like he did with the young arms in Chicago.

Overall, I think that is the worst thing about Dusty (excusing that he's the author of an epic playoff collapse everywhere he's been). He's so damn old school it's not even funny. In the age of information, you've gotta yield some what. I dunno how the Nats information/ analytics is or how much the FO works with the manager, but there's a bunch of places where a guy like Dusty just could not work anymore.

Hopefully this puts Bud Black back in play for the Dodgers and hopefully we bring him in for an interview at least.

heres a view of how Bud Black stacks up to the rest of the competition in terms of managing a bullpen…something Matt Williams was not very good at.

Mike Rizzo(Nats GM)is kind of 50/50. He belies in analytics but is also an old school scouting guy. Overall he's done a good job for the most part building the roster, although he screwed up big time in the bullpen this year.

But once again we're stuck with a Manager who lacks a modern grasp of the game. He's probably not going to be as bad as Matt Williams, but the standard should be much higher.

With that said, the World Series just had two teams that had Managers that have both been heavily criticized in the past. Maybe if Dusty can get the guys loose and playing up to their potential, it won't matter. We shall see...

We got a decent value return for Simmons, but at some point we need to start acquiring players who can hit the ball. Or we could just have a 10-man rotation of Shelby Millers.

Damn. No word from Braves fans on Tommy Hanson?

I'm with Keith Law on this deal.
Deal is adequate but given that people have been interested and calling on Simmons for years, I thought they might get more.

Dodgers could have easily matched that package and talked to the braves about Simmons so I wonder what the hold up was.

Freddie is the last player anyone cares about so of course he's going to be traded. Somehow Fredi Gonzalez will be the sole survivor.

He overdosed on something.
There saying the real story could take weeks before it's released.
Very odd.

Freddie is one of the players that most Atlanta fans would actually not be upset about if he gets traded.
I look forward to him being traded if Atlanta actually acquires some actual value.

I can honestly say you're the first person I have ever heard say that. And emotions aside, we need to acquire hitters, not trade our best one away.
