Summary: Bonds, Clemens, Schilling, Mattingly, Dale Murphy, Palmeiro, Albert Belle, and Fred McGriff are on the contemporary ballot and could join the Hall of Fame that way after never getting the 75% from the BBWAA.

To enter the Hall, a player needs 12 out of 16 votes on the committee. I don't know who is on the committee.

To me, Dale Murphy is the most mind-boggling omission. A guy is either the MVP or leads the league in home runs for FOUR years in a row and doesn't make the Hall. Doesn't even crack 30%. I realize it's a short peak, but the difference in emphasis on peak between basketball and baseball is crazy.
