I think in two years McCann will be equal to or better than Mauer.. i don't understand how you could take Jeter of Tejada....

Jeter's ridiculously better with the bat...which more than makes up for whatever advantage Tejada has on defense.

Tejada hits .300 every year with 30 homers and 100 RBI's how is Jeter better, with the exception of maybe average?

I agree. Mccann has more power and can also hit for average like Mauer. I think Mccann is already better this season.

Jeter

1b: Pujols

2b: Utley, but Robinson Cano deserves mention.

3b: Cabrera, Rodriquez, or Scott Rolen. Depends on what you want. Cabrera and Rodriquez are among the best hitters in the game, but they aren't very good in the field. Rolen is a far better defensive player, third base is an important defensive position, and Rolen is a good hitter as well as a great fielder.

ss: Jeter, but I'd at least consider Adam Everett--easily the best defensive player at the most important defensive position--or Reyes, an excellent-fielding shortstop who also hits.

c: Mauer

lf: Ramirez is a good choice, but I'll go with Matt Holliday just to be different.

cf: Beltran

rf: Vlad Guerrero

sp: Santana

rp: Nathan or Rivera

Really? Everett is one of the worst starting offensive hitters in the league--I think you've got to factor that into the equation here, defense or not.

For clarification, I did intend to say that I would take Jeter over Everett. And, truth be told, Reyes too. Or Tejada. But Everett is so good defensively, and at such a key position, that I'd consider him. He prevents an incredible number of runs with his glove. Keeping the other team from scoring is just as important as helping your own team score.

Yeah, Everett is basically the closest thing to Ozzie Smith since Ozzie retired.
