Nats vs the Braves tonight gets the nod.

2 outs, man on 2nd in a tied game. Manny Acta decides to IBB Andruw Jones, mind you is hitting .197 :o . McCann comes up and smacks a 3 run homer.

Terrible.

Anything Phil Garner does except for benching Biggio so he can get 3,000 at home instead of on the road.

Joe Torre refuses to use Mo Rivera for anything that won't potentially net him a save.

Like against the Orioles the other day when Proctor blew the game.

Horrible manager. I can't believe he's going into the Hall of Fame.

Wasn't it Yogi who said it was great players who make managers great?

That's certainly the case there.

I think its funny how everyone thinks they could manage in the majors. Theres more to the situational aspect of the game, you also have to know how to mesh 25 guys together for an 8 month period to achieve a championship. You have to deal with injuries, trades, and players being released and a constant change of personnel (which is why teams that stay healthy and don't make too many moves often win). They know their players better than any of you and have merit to their moves.

Bench Biggio on the road so he can get his 3,000th hit at home.....riiiiight

Who said they can manage in the majors(let alone better than said managers)? I didn't see that part, I'll re-read the thread though.

And I'm not sure what you meant by the Biggio comment but feel free to enlighten me ;)

Granted I only see about 19-30 Yankee games a year, but I can't ever think of a time where I saw Joe Torre think outside the box a little. Like use Mariano Rivera in the 7th or 8th inning of a high-leverage situation (like say, tie game, bases loaded, one out in the 7th inning). Or use A-Rod at short instead of Jeter. Or not use Johnny Damon as a DH. His usage of the bullpen is a joke it seems. It's not an official game unless Scott Proctor throws a pitch. I understand he's hamstrung by the 100 million dollar pitching rotation and everthing, but I don't know about him.

But you probably see him more than me, so you have a better grasp I guess.

Bring the closer in in the 7th? Tell me the last time that has happened....seriously. I mean Rivera did go 3 innings in the '03 ALCS to beat you guys but come on.

And Arod, move him to short? For what reason? Switch your star players positions during the game? Get freekin real. That would be the most moronic thing you could ever do. What would be the logic behind it? Seriously? Give me one good thing that would come from Arod at short? So Jeter could have a day off and Cairo could play third? Seriously find another reason to bash Torre could you? Why in the hell would you want to switch Arod to short? Why doesn't Francona put Manny in right once in a while, or Ortiz at first. Hell Varitek only plays 4 out of 5 games, why not start him at first and use Youk at second. Wow. Johnny Damon has been freeking DHing since Giambi went on the DL so I don't k now where your coming from here. The starting pitching has been the least used in the majors this year. Partly because Pettitte is the only one who can consitstently give you 7 innings.

Arod at short? Are you freeking kidding me? Where would Jeter go? Who would replace Jeter's bat. Got to be the most moronic thing I've ever heard.

Willie Randolph takes the pot for the WORST MOVE of the year.

Men were on 1st and 2nd. The mets have 2 guys left on their bench to use. This is in the 7th inning mind you.

Lo Duca gets hurt and he's on 2nd base. So, of course we cant use a position player, El Duque goes to 2nd to run for him. Our pitcher's spot is up and since we were going to have to Replace LoDuca anyway because of injury, instead of PH'ing Ramon Castro and double switching him into the game, he uses our last bench player Marloyn Anderson. Anderson is a lefty facing a lefty. Anderson flies out. Randolph is left with NO bench. Mets get within 1 in the 9th, no bench left and we have to use Tom Glavine to pinch hit. We lose the game, WHAT AN IDIOT.

It's not this year...but Dusty used to bat Neifi Perez leadoff. I think that's the worst ever.
