Pirates fans group pushing in-game walkout Saturday

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates, stuck in a 15th consecutive losing season, don't sell out PNC Park that often. On one of the few nights they will, some fans don't plan to stick around long.
With only the third capacity crowd of the season expected for a Bob Walk bobblehead doll giveaway Saturday night, some longtime rooters led by businessman Andy Chomos of Wexford, Pa., want those attending the game against Washington to walk out in protest of ownership's perceived lack of direction.

Great idea. Hope he gets enough support. Not like they'd want to sit through a Pittsburgh/Washington game anyways.

The Lions did this against the Bears last year but nobody really did it.
Mainly because they were winning at that point.

Good idea if they can follow through, really a shame whats going on in Pittsburgh. I remember growing up when the Pirates were a dominant team...now they have this beautiful stadium but no commitment to winning by the ownership.

Great idea. The Pirates saw what the Tigers did last year and are still doing and they are seeing in their own division what the Brewers are doing this year. Winning in a small market can be done if you are smart enough.

Pirates Fan 1: Hey, I got an idea on how to stick it to the Pirates! Let's all buy a ticket to the game, then we'll all leave during the middle of the game! That 'll show them.

Pure genius. What next? Boycotting Pepsi by buying it by the truckload and dumping it down the drain?

Until they get Jason Bay's arm out of left field and find a way to move him to 1B they will just continually suck

I have never understood these kinds of protest. The best way to protest is to not buy tickets in the first place and have nobody come to the game. Walking out will only give Pirates ownership the attention they desire.

Thats a pretty risky operation and I don't think his arm moves well laterally.

Having thousands of people stand up and leave during a game would be extremely embarrassing to any organization. You're crazy if you think they'd want that attention. Then after that you don't buy anymore tickets.

No they said only 100 walked out of the stadium but a couple thousand got up out of their seats.

It actually wasn't a failure because that is how many people showed up at the game.
