in the all-star game?
bonds is not that popular.
I wonder if selig "helped" him out
afonso was leading him with 2 days left. cubs fans base is much bigger, and the fact that people like afonso a lot more than they like bonds.
something is fishy.

I though Bud Selig hated Bonds?
But with Bonds in the all star game at least it's a lot more interesting.

No the Giants set up internet kiosks at their ballpark so when people passed by they could press a button and it would give him 25 votes.
Kind of dumb if you ask me.

Nothing Selig does suprises me. He's an awful commissioner and should've been forced out long ago.

Soriano was leading with 2 days left? Funny, I didn't see any updated vote totals other than the ones released on June 25.
Also, if you look at ASG voting for the past, oh, say, 40 years, you will notice that vote totals almost get doubled in the last week. For instance, Prince Fielder had 1.4 million votes on June 25, he finished with around 2.7 million.
And how can you say Bonds is not popular enough to be elected a starter? He started in 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and from '92-'98.
2005 he was hurt all year and 2006 he was bouncing back from the injury and had an average year.
Barry Bonds deserves to start the 2007 All-Star Game.

Selig hates Bonds. Selig hates that the steroid era is going to be what his tenure is going to be remebered for most, and that Bond's is the posterboy for the era. Selig won't even go to or celebrate Bond's breaking Aaron's record.

I don't know about last 40 years....but internet votes are not counted until the final totals.

Somewhere along the lines...it's A-Rod's fault.

Agreed. I was pretty sure that most people were of the opinion the Selig didn't give a S*** about the guy and he was going to try to make it to his games out of a PR stunt.
I think that Bonds is fun to watch crank a couple out of the park, but can't say I care much about him in the regular season. If Bonds didn't have the hype around him and the ability to crank the HR's, there's no way he would have made it to the AllStar game. That's just the way it is.
