The Official Chad Tracy is horrible thread

Post#1 » by Black Jesus 1 » Mon Jul 9, 2007 9:55 pm

He's terrible now. Tracy looked like he would be a great player, now he's turned into complete trash. He's a lousy defender, and the D'Backs made a big mistake on having him signed through-out '09, with an option of 7 mil in '10. :noway:

.263 | .343 OBP | .805 OPS and his numbers are only dropping further.

One of the few D'Back prospects who is not playing good.

Eh, all things considered, i'd say there are several players more deserving of a "_______ is horrible" thread. Not every prospect pans out into a full-out stud.

He looked so promising though, he had a good year in 2005. 308 | 27 | 72 in his second year. It's too bad.

You can do a lot worse than an .805 OPS at any position. That's more than good enough at 3B, though marginal for a 1B/DH/corner outfield type, which is what it seems like Tracy is destined to be. Still, considering that he's still outhitting people like Carlos Delgado and Richie Sexson, you really can't complain. Considering how badly Mark Reynolds stunk up the joint in June (right after I picked him up in my fantasy league, of course), you should be glad Tracy is still around.

Seems to me, if AZ fans want to complain about someone, there are better targets -- starting with Carlos Quentin, and also including Stephen Drew, the Snyder-Montero duo, and Chris Young. Tracy is the least of your problems. What about Conor Jackson, with his whopping 5 homers at 1B? What about Scott Hairston, who can't hit a thing, but stays in the lineup because he's not Quentin?

I know Hairston sucks, no need, he never had a good year.
-Quentin may be struggling from his labrum injury (I think he tore it, or just screwed it up bad during spring training)
-Drew, idk what's up with him, he was amazing last year.
-Snyder-Montero, Snyder has never been good, so I have zero expectations. Montero is extremely clutch in late innings, tied for league lead in PH HR's with another D'Back, Tony Clark is probably his only "+" this yr.
-Chris Young is probably the best one, even tho his avg, obp, ops are pretty bad. He's hit 3 game winning HR's, and is pretty clutch overall, his defense is a question some-what, but that can be improved.

Most of the blame should go to the hitting coach, this guy comes in, and all of a sudden our young hitters absolutely take a huge dip.

Fact is, Tracy has been in the league for 4 years, and has only gotten worse, his defense is flat out atrocious. Nothing is working out for us. There is still time for those young guys to pick it back up, Tracy should be a 20/100 guy, but he's more like a AAA 3B.

---Also, I did mention he's not the only one playing bad in the first post
