1) Prince Fielder, Mil-1B (61 runs, 28 HR, 67 RBI, 0 SB, .283 BA, .989 OPS)

Prince Fielder is the king of Milwaukee right now. This Brewers team, along with the Detroit Tigers, have laid a solid plan for teams looking to emerge from the basement of their division. They both have a nice mixture of home grown talent and they complimented their own with a few veteran free agents. Suddenly they're winning and they have a comfortable lead over their division heading into the All-Star break. Who would have thought that you didn't need to break the bank (a la New York Yankees/Boston Red Sox) just to put a good squad on the field? As of right now, Prince would probably be the most feared hitter in the post-season (David Ortiz has been playing on a bad wheel all season, and I can't imagine it's going to get better without some off-season rest.)

Shows us all how not to let the bass-turds get you down. He's leading all baseball in OB%, OPS%, and BB's not to mention 17 dingers and that he is shortly going to be 43 years old... Oh yea, and he's soon to be breaking some kind of record.

I never have been much of a quitter but, if i had achieved what Barry has done, had his money, and been put through what he has been put through these last few years...I'm thinking that i would have bent my behind over and told the world to kiss my fanny. Barry has held his head high, his nose clean, and gone about doing what takes to be a pro's pro, in the "Game" of Baseball.

Prince has great power numbers, but he has to improve in other areas for me to consider him an MVP caliber player. Of course, there aren't really any clear MVP players that I can think of. I see Jose Reyes picking it up in the 2nd half and making a great case for it.

Prince just isn't a power hitter. He is a very good hitter overall. But, I don't blame you for not knowing that, since you barely get to watch him.

Fun fact of the day:

Chase Utley has been the best player in the NL so far this year.

Compare him to the last two MVP.

Pujols: .330 average, .430 on base
Howard: .313 average, .425 on base
Fielder: .284 average, .376 on base

Those aren't terrible by any means, but I think he'll need to improve them to be considered the MVP. He's fortunate that there aren't any other stand outs to this point, though.

Lol, wow! Whoever wrote that post provided in the early link is a moron. I dont have a problem with Fielder being his top MVP choice, but it baffles me how he doesn't have Jose Reyes in his top 5, even behind someone like Peavy? Christ.

Also, Alex Rodriguez is no way in hell the top choice for MVP. The Yankees suck.

It just seems like on every thread, its only about the players on YOUR team. I don't mean YOUR as in you mets....but as in the poster. Whoever the poster is, his teams players are the best. There is no better shortstop in the majors than JJ Hardy in Milwaukee, but if your writing from ATL, there is no better shortstop than Renteria. I just wish people could have an open view on all this. And i'm only using Hardy and Renteria as examples, because yea they are great players, but there are 7 shortstops in the Majors that I would take over them

What the...Troy Tulowitzki isn't better than Edgar Renteria. And if we're talking strictly this year Edgar has also been better than Guillen and Young. Oh, and for future debate David Eckstein is better than them all!

I think Tulowitzki is the best defensive shortstop in baseball, yea...better than Jack Wilson or Omar Vizquel. I know the Rockies get zero pub....zero. I just really think Renteria is overrated, maybe because living in New England I saw how awful he was with the Red Sox.
