Gary Sheffield has strong words about New York Yankees manager Joe Torre, former Yankees teammate Derek Jeter, San Francisco slugger Barry Bonds and steroids in an interview with HBO's "Real Sports" that will air next Tuesday.
Sheffield says Torre treats black players differently from white players and says Jeter, who is from a mixed-race marriage, "ain't all the way black," during the interview with Andrea Kremer, as reported by Newsday.
As for Bonds, Sheffield says "if I took what Barry Bonds took, why don't I look like him?" He also says that he never took steroids because "the bottom line is steroids is something you stick in your butt -- period."
He added that he would be willing to talk to baseball's steroids investigator, former Senator George Mitchell. "I don't feel like it's all that much of a threat to me," he said.

Sheff is annoying as hell.

Shef might like to say controversial things, but he doesn't make stuff up. If he says something, then I don't find it hard to believe.

Sheff is doing nothing but speaking the truth. He's saying what's from his heart instead of every last word coming out of his mouth a cliche.
Oh yeah, and remember he has a book, this is all helping him sell books. The guy can play ball, end of story.

I don't mind a player speaking his mind but there are limits to everything.

What happens in Vegas... We have probably all been "out " with the boys or a part of a group that has ended up doing less than ideal things. Is it right for one member to then report on these adventures/ deeds, 5-10-15 years later to the media? Shows a lack of class, discretion, and security.
You guys talk him up if you want to. I think he is a borderline mental case.

Limits to what? Saying how some organizations treat players of a different race differently then others?
What's not to believe there? It's not like it's never happened before

Coming from the guy who says doing nothing is better then doing something.

I'm not saying its never happened before. I'm saying that if there is a problem worth addressing, then address it when its happening, not later on down the road. If there was really a problem of players of a different race being treated differently than others of the same race, I think thats a big enough problem that he should have came out and said something when it was happening. Talking about it now after the fact makes is what makes it questionable, IMO.
Ya guys, if there is something wrong going on, you need to address it when the man can can still punish you for it, not when you are out of his reach!

So you guys would rather have issues like this just swept under the rug, instead of brought into the light? Sounds like some of you are just afraid that Shef just might have some truth to his story.
Yes he is outspoken, but I don't think he would just make something like this up and just throw it out there.
