D-Backs are on fire.

Post#1 » by Black Jesus 1 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 12:19 am

8 straight win and now 3 straight walk-off wins.

D-Backs pen:
Lefty Specialist: Doug Slaten, 3-1, 2.33 ERA, .207 AVG vs Lefty Batters
6th Inning: Juan Cruz, 4-1, 2.85 ERA, 56 SO's in 41 innings, .212 AVG against
7th Inning: Brandon Lyon, 6-3, 2.52 ERA, 20 Holds, 50 IP
8th Inning: Tony Pena, 5-2, 1.95 ERA, 21 Holds, 60 IP
9th Inning: Jose Valverde, 2.63 ERA, 31 SV's, .187 batting AVG against

That is damn near lights out.
--------------------------------------
Starting pitching is solid, not great.
-Webb: You know the deal with him, he carries the rotation.
-Livan Hernandez: Very good as of late, improving after his rough last month or so.
-Davis: Can't find the plate often, which means he has pretty bad command. Highest WHIP in the league. Improving.
-Petit: Hidden gem I guess you could say, other than yesterday's start, he had not given up more than 3 ER's in a start.
-Owings: His hitting looks better than his pitching. Prospect in the D-Backs system. Not reliable anymore.
----------------------------------------------------
The hitting has picked up of late.
Starting lineup:
-Young: Tied for rookie lead in homerun's, 18. Has 15 steals, with only 1 CS. Get's the biggest jumps I've seen in a while. No homerism there, he's stole multiple bases STANDING UP, no throw. Clutch, 2 walk-off Homeruns, and 1 game winning homer.
-Hudson: Great glove, has fallen off a little since last year. Can hit .300, drive in runs, with the occasional homer.
-Byrnes: Team MVP, always hustles, great LF'er. Can absolutely murder the ball, drive in runs. Has stolen 27 bases, and 12 for his last 12 on steal attempts. Most of all CLUTCH.
-Jackson: His batting average has risen 14 pts since July 19th, .258 to .274. Good gap hitter when he plays to his capability, which is a highly touted prospect. Game winning hit tonight.
-Reynolds: Young, and raw. He has fallen off a lot since his first tear in May. Still has a lot of pop in his bat, and when he gets a hold of one, there is no doubt. Too aggressive at times, his glove was known to be bad in the minors, but has proven many doubters that it is solid, not *bad*.
-Snyder: Another, young player here. Good arm, great at blocking balls. His bat has finally awoken. His batting average has also went up. Since the all-star break, his average has taken a 31 point climb from .214 to .245.
-Drew: Big prospect in the D-Backs organization. Only hitting .244 but has had very bad luck, hitting the ball extremely hard now after the all-star break, and very consistent. His glove is solid, good DP combo with him and Hudson.
-Quentin: Yet, another big prospect for the D-Backs. Has showed zero signs of life..got a hit today, other than that, zero production from the RF position.
----------------------------------------------------------
Bench:
-Clark: Good veteran, very clutch, has hit multiple game tying, game winning homeruns, very reliable in the pinch-hit situations. Good glove at first for a late defensive switch.
-Montero: Batting in the .330's in the 7th inning or later. Good pinch hitter as well, he's one of the reasons why the D-Backs lead the league in pinch hit homeruns.
-Ojeda: Great glove anywhere you put him. Whether you put him at 2nd, short or even 3rd. Has hit the ball well when he is given the opportunity.
-Tracy: One word: BUM.

If you read all of this.
If not..sorry.

But, what do you guys think this team is capable of? NL Wildcard, NL West crown? NLCS appearance, what? Curious to what you guys think.

d'backs seem to be really good every 2 weeks or so.

if they are serious about contention next year, they should be in the market for a big bat.

They're taking advantage of bad teams. The Braves have been playing pathetic since the All Star break.

The DBacks have given up 17 more runs then they've scored. Their Pythag. expected W/L is like 51-55.

I expect them to fall back to earth pretty soon.

Eh, I don't really care. I knew we were going to lose today. And I'd rather lose and get killed today, then all of next week. So I'll take it.

True, I just hope that for some reason they are able to maintain this streak, they are doing awesome. Well done D'Backs!

I thought you hated this team and wanted them to pack it in, BJ1? That was your feeling when they were in Milwaukee, anyways

Things change. 8)

I thought they were done, they showed zero hope, dropping something like 17 of the last 21. Now the young guys are finally hitting, our bullpen is absolutely amazing, SP is the only question.

Chris B. Young is a beast!

In fact, I'm pretty sure than the B. stands for BEAST. :P

19 homers, I believe that leads rookies and his bat is on absolute fire. STUD.

Just think

an outfield of Justin Upton, Chris Young, and Carlos Gonzalez will be out there in 2 years. Those are 3 HUUUUUUGE prospects.

Hey BJ1, I have to ask...

Will the Suns win?
