New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens has been suspended for five games and fined an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing a pitch at Alex Rios of the Toronto Blue Jays in the bottom of the seventh inning of the game on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto after warnings had been issued to both Clubs earlier in the game. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.
Pending appeal, the suspension of Clemens is scheduled to begin on Friday, Aug. 10, when New York plays at Cleveland. If appealed, the suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.
In addition, Yankees manager Joe Torre has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for the intentional actions of Clemens after warnings had been issued earlier in the game. Torre is scheduled to serve his suspension on Friday night.
Also receiving undisclosed fines for their roles in the incidents during Tuesday's game were New York's Alex Rodriguez and coaches Larry Bowa and Tony Pena and Toronto's Matt Stairs and Josh Towers and coach Brian Butterfield.

They should get 52 each. A-Rod fined 25 million.

And you should make a normal, insightful post. But if that happened, the world may end...so on second thought, continue your ways until you get banned or something.

I'm not getting banned for telling you that IMO he deserved a longer suspension.
And if Torre got banned for 52, it only does the Yankees a favor.

Let's see...
NY 1) A-Rod messes up the easy pop up catch for Howie Clark
TOR 1) Jays throw behind A-Rod
NY 2) One of the Yankees takes a very hard slide into second base (which took him past the bag) and takes out John McDonald
TOR 2) Towers hits A-Rod in the leg
NY 3) Clemens hits Alex Rios in the back
TOR 3) Still to come...I guess
I think that's how it went. I got no hard feelings towards Clemens because he did what a good teammate would do. However, A-Rod is making stupid mistakes on a team like the Yankees. I don't think Derek Jeter would ever try to distract an opponent like A-Rod did. Nevertheless, Clemens has to be punished (with a 1 game suspension in essence) but I'm not sure about Torre. Also, if what I listed was correct, everyone's assessment of "the Jays should be punished too" is a bit hasty seeing as they still didn't pick up Alex Rios getting hit yet.

Since ARod's HA, the Yankees are 43-21. And obviously he is not only the MVP of the team but of the league. Why bring Derek Jeter into this, it's just stupid to. Say what you will, but that one little stupid play (which happens a hell of a lot more than you would think, people just don't notice it because it happened to work this time) turned the Yankees season around.

It's called a Yankee high. Some day, if your team is ever good enough, you may be fortunate enough to enjoy it, too.

Even though the Yankees have so many haters and are the most hated franchise in North American Sports, they are also the most exciting team to watch. You cannot disagree with that...the way their offense explodes and the comebacks they go on.
