4-1, 1.20 ERA, 39 IP, 46 K, 12 BB, 30 hits, 0 HRs allowed. After struggling mightily in the first half of the season, he's turned it up a couple notches. He did the same thing his rookie season as well.

Also, how ridiculously red hot is Carl Crawford? Five straight multiple hit games and he is absolutely killing the ball.

If the Devil Rays got an sort of a resemblance of a pitching staff around Kazmir, that is not only a fun team to watch, but a dangerous one. The Rays have a great young offense, but absolutely no pitching outside of Kazmir.

Exactly. It's one thing to develop players through your farm system, but for a team that picks top 5 almost yearly, they SHOULD be where they are right now. I don't think they're necessarily moving in the right direction. Now if they start to lock guys up longterm like Crawford, Shields, and Kazmir (and Upton, Young) down the road then that will prove something to me. Oh, and hit up the free agent market for a reliever or two.

Tampa has a rich baseball history and tradition, with teams having Spring Training there for years and the city producing many great talents (Sheffield, Gooden, Tino Martinez, etc.). It's unfair to lump in Rays fans as not supporting their team when they've never been good, or even close to competitive, since their inception. If the team wins, the fans will come.

Also, James Shields is a very solid young pitcher and has formed a nice little duo with Kazmir. He doesn't have Kaz's overpowering stuff, but his changeup is otherwordly good and he throws a lot of innings.

If Tampa Bay wins, the fans will come.

He has seriously caused me to almost put the game on mute a number of times. Up 20 runs or down 20 runs the guy is the same. There is no way people around him in the stands enjoy it, I'm surprised people put up with it.
