I can't wait until all the Mets fans who think Pedro will be their ace are dissapointed. The guy is throwing 86-88 right now.

Pitching isn't all about velocity. Kyle Farnsworth should know that. The thing with Pedro is that he doesn't need to throw hard to be effective. He has so many other plus pitches that he can get batters out with. He's just a veteran that knows how to pitch. I'm not expecting him to be an ace though, but I consider him an improvement over what the Mets have now. We'll see.

From his rehab starts, he looks horrible.

It is hard enough for a 22 year old to recover from that injury in just a year, so I can only imagine that Pedro may have to go through. Expecting anything in the final month is foolish. I wouldn't worry so much about his "stuff" as I would about his command. Sometimes the last thing a pitcher gets back after that type of surgery is their mechanics, then the command follows. Pedro will probably have some more flashes of being really good, but I think for the most part he is done. Maybe he has another decent year left in him but I don't know what somebody can really expect beyond that.

Why can't a Yankee fan comment on a Mets situation without it being a Yankee/Met thing? The same goes for a Met fan commenting on the Yankees. It's just (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

Anything out of Pedro would be a plus for the Mets. The old Pedro is not going to return, but he damn sure is going to give us more than Brian Lawrence did.

Agreed.

As far as Pedro goes no one expects the old Pedro, heck the old Pedro doesnt even exist anymore. However you can say one thing about Pedro is that if he comes back half of what he used to be he is still better then the likes of Lawerence. Thats all were asking for at this point.

Pedro can still get by with his Change Up and im interested to see his brand new slider. Its not like he needs to rip the fastball by you everytime, he can be deceptively quick at the same time. Nobody knows for sure, so until then im going to leave it at that.

Are you really comparing preseason basketball games to rehab starts in the minors if you can't get minor leaguers out good luck in the majors. Good luck Pedro you will be needing it.

uhh ya i am because this isnt only pedros rehab, its his PRESEASON.. if you really think his number 1 goal was to stike guys out and win the game at all costs, then you dont know sh*t about baseball.. rehab starts are just like spring training, gain strength on your pitches/grips, gain stamina/arm strength... apparently youve never followed a pitcher in his rehab starts or watched a spring training baseball game..

I am not saying that pitching is all about velocity. It isn't. And he does have plus secondary stuff.. his changeup and curve. But when your fastball is 86-88, the speed differential between the change/curve is very small. And the guy just had surgery, his command in the zone is probably spotty also.

Umm yes i have an they didn't look nearly as bad as pedro but whatever you will see monday. i dont want to argue with you about what a friggin pitcher should do in a rehab start but you will see monday how bad he looks.
