The Umpiring in this game is a JOKE.

Post#1 » by Buck You » Tue Sep 25, 2007 2:58 am

It started this year with Chipper Jones saying it has been worse than ever, there have also been a lot of other people complaining about it. Now, during a PENNANT race, the umpiring has been taken up a notch on the horrible scale. The umps missed 2 EASY calls in yesterday's brewer/brave game and totally mishandled the Milton Bradley situation. Now tonight in the Brewer/Brave game they miss a call at home plate that an amateur umpire could see, much less a major league one. But he wasn't in position to see the play, don't they teach them that in umpiring school??! Also, Damian Miller was called out on a pitch that was outside and identical to the pitch next inning that sent Albert Pujols to 1st base with a walk. Damian Miller and our hitting coach were sent to the Club House because of that BS. Also, Prince was just asking the ump about a called strike 3 call earlier tonight and the ump kept talking to him as he was walking back to the dugout. He is baiting him into getting ejected! I know most of these are Brewer examples because those are the only games I see but the Cubs I know got screwed earlier this year against the Reds by the umps badly. You aren't even allowed to talk to the umps anymore, once you higher the tone of your voice you are sent to the clubhouse. Do these umps even care? No, because they know they won't be held that much accountable by Bud Selig and company. These umps think the fans come to see them perform, they don't, just shut up, do your job and make the right calls and be a professional about it.

From TRWI on the Brewers board:

That's the pitch to Miller and the pitch to Pujols shadowed together. It's the SAME pitch.

Too many umps want to be apart of the game. And that's not the way it should be. Umps shouldn't have nicknames like "Balk-a-day Bob" and others.

And you should really invest into some paragraphs. ;)

Well I've seen enough baseball that different players get different calls.

LOL, you guys are pretty serious about this. It happens to all teams, yours is just coming at a less favorable time. I don't even know what those pictures are supposed to show.

Are you really complaining about a ball/strike call when you were up 12-3 at the time? Take a break umps are humans they aren't right every time.
Now tonight in the Brewer/Brave game

At least you know who you're playing.
Damian Miller and our hitting coach were sent to the Club House

Quit lying it was that damn manager that you guys are always bitching about that got ejected you guys should be rejoicing.

Really, just messing with you here, but if you want everything to be perfect start the petition to start having machines call balls and strikes, and decide if a runner is safe or out.

Miller and our hitting coach were ejected between innings. That's why Mike Rivera was put into the game.

We've been screwed on calls the past TWO games and shut your mouth if you don't know what you're talking about. Miller and Skaalen were ejected in between innings after Miller struck out.

Absolutely. I'm sick of these umps for every team jawing at players and throwing them out for nothing, inconsistant strikezones, not being in position to make calls etc.

Poor guys, it happens to every team. All I was saying is that Yosty got ejected, sorry I don't watch every inning of Cardinal baseball anymore, to many tears from that.

Edit-Do you guys realize the game wasn't close all game and that none of those calls mattered at all in the decision of the game?

Did I ever say it doesn't happen to every team? No I said we've been screwed in two games in a row. 4 or 5 calls that could have gone either way yesterday and none went for us. Two calls in the 7th were atrocious, that cost us because we would've been out of the inning with the lead which addresses your edit.

Kelvim Escobar against the White Sox...nuff said.

Just be glad that it wasn't in the playoffs.

Does that give an umpire an excuse to not do the job he is being paid handsomely for?

Nope, but being human does. And you guys are acting all crazy like you lost the game when you blew the Cards out.

Okay here's the video of the two pictures from before.

It's not even the call that makes me angry it's the horrible position by the umpire and then him being quick to throw all the Brewers players out when he was terrible the whole game.

Shouldn't this have gone in the "Brewers Are the Best Team in MLB" thread?

For the love of god, you blew out St. Louis and still find a reason to bitch? More less, blow up pictures and act like you're investigators on C.S.I.?

Didn't see the game, but just from looking at the box score and the time of the ejections, me thinks you guys tend to overreact.

Which isn't a surprise as the Milwaukee Bucks forum is always full of laughs and illogical posters.

Not the replays I saw. He tagged him right before he got to the base.

It's not just yesterday's game, it's the Atlanta game the day before that screwed us over. The calls changed the whole completion of the game. I know yesterday we were blowing out the Cards but the umps really just gave up yesterday. Being a blowout gives the umps no merit to make blown calls on obvious plays. Chipper even said it earlier in the year, so it's not just us Brewer fans.
