I think the sexy pick now is Rollins, because of Philly's slide into the postseason and his impact on that. I'm not sure of Howard is going to steal any votes from him. I'm not going to feign objectivity: Matt Holliday is my choice.

Wright...he was the best player in the NL this season, even though his team didn't make the playoffs.

are there any other stats, besides zone rating, which shows holliday is better at his position than rollins? perhaps on BP, who have access?

Yes, he was the best player in the NL this season not named Albert Pujols or Chipper Jones. Or Barry Bonds, if you can't that as a season.

Only someone like you would say Chipper and Bonds were better, I'm not going to argue Pujols because it is close, and I didn't bring him up because everyone would be like what a homer. Chipper and Bonds were better rate hitters though, it just so happens Bonds isn't the greatest fielder and doesn't play as much as he needs to be considered for the MVP. And Chipper simply missed too many games and his defense isn't as good as Wright's.

No disrespect to Matt Holliday at all, but it'll be hard for the voters to give the award to someone who's barely known outside of the town he plays in.

Holliday. Rollins and Howard were close to equal in the amount of production they provided for the Phillies.

Holliday, then Rollins, then Fielder.

Wright shouldn't get any votes IMO.

The fact is he won it, and no one outside of the AL Central had any idea about the season he was having until then. Where you play has nothing to do with getting the award.
