Andruw Jones' career with the Braves is over.
General manager John Schuerholz said Tuesday he told Jones in a noon meeting in his office that the Braves could not afford to bring him back based on the initial contract expectations made by the centerfielder's agent, Scott Boras.

Not really a shocker. I think Jones really could end up in quite a few places. Should be interesting to see where he lands.

No surprise and the right move, but I'm going to miss his defense in CF. Even with him gone, there's not a player better out in CF.

Expect the G men to make a run at him with Bonds gone.

I just posted around 6 different articles about it on the Atlanta board. Basically the same information but some different quotes.
Braves were sent a offer that was around 20 plus million last December and basically they knew AJ's days were over during that time.
His house was in the AJC last week basically advertising it before it goes on the market.

Because he's not a great hitter?
He's bounced between the .250s and .280s his entire career. Has cleared an OPS of 900 only twice in his career.
I dont get it... his defensive skills have deteriorated towards making him a slightly above average defender. He's just not quick off the ball anymore, though his route running is still top notch...
Hasnt been a stolen base threat for years, his slugging isnt impressive... what kept him afloat the past two years was his HRs, which waned this year... and he wants upwards of 14 million?
I pity the team that falls for this one..

Any non homers want to bring in the zone rating drop that Jones experienced in the past two years? Believe me... no laughing matter. If I'm not mistaken, he graded out horribly worse in 2007 than he did in 2004, 2005...
2007 - .863 (18th)
2006 - .846 (20th)
2005 - .878 (13th)
to be fair, factored in with range factor
2007 - 2.67 (10th)
2006 - 2.61 (9th)
2005 - 2.48 (7th)
Independently, the numbers mean nothing, but looking at Jones' sharp decline in AFR, its evident hes not the fielder he once was, and there are at least a handful of players who patrol the OF better. None have the arm Andruw has (sans Ichiro) but the guy is a shell of his former self.

The question in which team is going to fork over the 20 million a year or near it that Boras wants.
