Joe Torre didn't become a bad manager over night...He's still a great manager, and a very classy individual...
Yankees pitching is not up to par... And that's not Joe's fault..
The Yankees were at their best when they were doing it the right way... Solid players with good chemistry...And in recent years, that's not been the Yankee way.. The Yankee way in recent years resulted i trading away th farm, and signing high priced talent to win now.... It's not working...
Scott Brosious, Paul O'neill, Chuck Knoblauch, Ricky Ledee, Luis Sojo, Chad Curtis Jeff Nelson, Mike Stanton, Graham Lloyd, Ramiro Mendoza...
Those names are not A-Rod, Sheffield, Abreu, Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson Carl Pavano etc... However, they really were the epitome of team...

Torre's been an awful manager with a talented cast for a long time, and I won't shed a tear when he walks out the door.

what a scumbag move by Steinbrenner. i cant wait til the fans are calling for him to sell the team in a year because Joe"Gods greatest gift to this world" Girardi cant handle the massive pressure to win now(of which there was ZERO urgency in Fla) and those huge egos. .
good luck NY, ahahahahaha jk i hope they all take plane lessons from Cory Lidles instructor

I'm 50/50 on this.
I'll be sad to see him go, but I'll be happy to start something new.... well as long as Mattingly isn't promoted to be the replacement.
Please George..... Hire the other Joe!

I'm so hopeful that the Yankees will hire Tony "The Genius" LaRussa. Mainly because I despise him and would love to see him self-destruct.

Yep, our games take 2.5-3 hours while AL baseball takes 3.5-4 hours.
Plus, we don't have 2 teams (NY and Boston) spending money like crazy

What's the reason for wanting him out of the National League??? It's not like he is a hitter.

I'm a Cubs fan and I absolutely hate Tony. Not a very classy guy at all.

Agreed. What's so wrong about the 4-5 hour Red Sox/Yankee games? Those games are absolutely epic.

from today's Post
There are signs that Torre will be brought back since some members of George Steinbrenner's Inner Circle want to invite Torre to the organizational meetings. If he was a lock to be fired, that wouldn't be discussed.
According to a person in the know, Steinbrenner was affected by Mariano Rivera going to Brian Cashman Wednesday and backing Torre and he is aware of how Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez feel about Torre.
The popular belief inside the Yankees' offices is that Steinbrenner made it difficult to fire Torre when he popped off last Saturday with the Yankees down 2-0 to the Indians in the ALDS. Had The Boss kept quiet, the Yankees could have conducted their business without having to hear the players' love for Torre.
