Did he do enough to save himself or will he become a Cub?
Obviously I am hoping A-Rod opts out and comes to the Cubs but that home run tonight probably sealed his extension.

1 rbi and 3 hits in a 4 game series does not a reputation restore. Before the series there was a lot of talk of him being an october hero and as far as i'm concerned he hasnt overcome the stigma...
Not sure why the expectations of him started decreasing during the series

Neither. I don't think he'll be a Yankee, but he won't be a Cub either. I still think the Angels get him.

Or the Red Sox but A-Rod has said throughout the season how he wants to play for Lou Piniella again. I sure hope if he opts out Hendry or whoever is running the Cubs should make a big attempt at him.

lol that sig is great i laughed so hard when i seen that on sportscenter.. to answer to original question did he do enough to save himself? 1 rbi since 2004 in the postseason? PLEASE tell me i wasnt the only one who turned to their friend/family member in the 7th or whenever it was and said "Now that no1 is on base, there are less than 7-8 outs left and the team is down 4, arod will go deep", only to see him go deep. i know for a fact im not the only one who said that..

Jeter was terrible this series. But Arod was nothing impressive either. He hit a late inning HR in Game 4 when the Yankees were very far behind. He hit about 2 balls hard all series (including the HR) and looked feeble and struck out twice (on 6 pitches) against a pitcher who strikes out about 4 batters per 9 innings.
Jeter was worse but Jeter has built some leeway in the postseason with this franchise. Arod hasn't. Yesterday was his first RBI in the postseason since Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS.

I'm not sure which team I would like to see Alex play for, but I do hope his days with the Yankees are over, and I have my doubts about him coming to the NL.

The Red Sox, Cubs, and Angels have the best chance at landing A-Rod.
I doubt the Angels will spend that much money to land him.
Boston could land him just to rub it in the Yankees face.

I really only see one other team that would truly spend the money to get A-Rod, and thats the Sawx.
But, if he signed with them, he'd leave the field on a stretcher during his first visit back to Yankees Stadium.
I think Cashman and George should give him whatever he wants (well whatever Boras tells Alex he wants). He's the best player in baseball, and it would look foolish for the Yanks to give him up over a restructured $300 million deal.
He'll be in Yankeee pinstripes next season... I have no doubts.

I'll give him 210 million for 6 years if he comes back to the mariners to play SS. Then move Yuni to 2B. The mariners can even afford to do this by ditching sexson, vidro and the two busts of pitchers last year (Ramirez and Weaver)

Wouldn't that actually help lure him in? He wants to win a WS, the Sox can afford him, and they have an open spot at 3rd. I think if they win, they could become the front runners...
if not for Manny Ramirez. The Sox have dealt with his bloated, overpaid contract for almost a decade and I think they are going to have a hard time giving a 10 year deal north of $20 million a year to a player in his 30s. The Sox are pimping the hell out of their fan base and marketing machine, I can't see A-Rod significantly boosting that, whereas a team like the Giants will be losing Bonds could really use A-Rod from a marketing standpoint.
Unless A-Rod agrees to a below market value deal, I don't want him on the Sox. mahalo

Its fitting that Andy Pettite was the only player (other than Damon) that did what he was suppose to do, its even more fitting that he got a no decision after pitching one of the better post season games of his career.
If theres one guy we can blame its Chien Ming Wang, he singe handedly knocked us out of 2 games and in a 5 game series its very hard to win when you have Wang pitch the way he pitched games 1 and 4.
If anyone to blame it Wang but I would rather put emphesis on the great pitching and timely hitting of the Indians. The Yankees got there fair share of baserunners/hits but they never got them when they needed them most, the Indians capitalized on every oppertunity they had.
Its in the past, I hope we keep Posada and Arod and im ready for next season (if Abreus contract is up I would like to keep him too.

Wang
Chamberlain
Mussina
Kennedy
hopefully we can pick up a good pitcher in the free agency this year but with all of the in club house decisions that have to be made I doubt much happens.
It seems like the only way Posada will stay is if Joe stays, same with Rivera im guessing. Obviously if this is the case Joe stays, if we can get them without Joe and Cashman honestly thinks theres someone out there that can run this team better than I say go for it.
