Mo Rivera to test market this Winter

Post#1 » by Jose7 » Tue Oct 9, 2007 6:13 pm

"They had the opportunities and they didn't do nothing with me," Rivera said, according to the Star-Ledger of Newark. "So we'll see what happens. ... This is a business. Nothing against the New York Yankees.

"They figured it was the best for the team and I'm OK with it. ... We'll see what happens. But I would never hold anything against [the Yankees]."

He can come to Chicago along with Jorge and A-Rod.

Nothing to see here. Yankees didn't extend him in Spring Training like he asked. He is exercising his options now that he is a free agent. I expect him to be a Yankee next year.

I think he'll do a decent job setting up Papelbon for the Red Sox next year.

I expect him to return to the New York Yankees. If not I could see the Indians or Tigers really going after him.

Orioles could use a closer for 1 year while Chris Ray recovers. What is Rivera's asking price anyway? $10 mil a year?
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

No, it's much more likely that he meant that the greatest closer of all time was the reason the Yankees lost.

From your mouth to god's ears. How awesome would it be to see this

Okajima
Mariano
Papelbon

Do it Mo, it might be your last chance to win another one. It would be an awesome slap in the face to NY as well

Mariano is not going to be a setup man. And he's not going to pitch for the Red Sox. And he's going to another World Series next year as a Yankee. He'll make the last pitch ever at Yankee Stadium.

He is also not pitching for the Baltimore Orioles. I mean really, who are the Baltimore Orioles?

He'll pitch for the team that offers him the most money, whether it be NY, Boston, Philly, or Texas...if he doesnt feel hes being respected by the Yankees, he will be gone...especially if Torre is gone

I also think Papelbon could go in the rotation if Mariano was acquired. Hes just that type of guy

He'd be pretty average in the rotation if he was moved there.

Papelbon is the closer for the Boston Red Sox and there is nothing to think that would change for next season. The Sox are not getting Mo Rivera.

Perhaps Rivera will just take the most money and go with that team. But I also bet that team will be using him as a closer. The Indians and Tigers really should be dishing out good money to get that guy.

I don't see why the Yankees would waste their money.

They already have Kyle Farnsworth waiting in the wings.

If he went to the Red Sox, I don't see how he doesn't become the closer and Papelbon moves to the 8th inning

Please tell me you forgot to put that in green.

I'm hoping Mo will come back for one more year, but I'm sure if he doesn't, he'll be somewhere on the East Coast. That being said, I'm hoping he doesn't go to Boston (for obvious reasons) or Philly (that's where relievers go to die).

BTW, he would never go to a team where he couldn't close, so I'm pretty confident Boston isn't an option.
