I'm sorry Reds fans

My condolences.

Reds may favor Baker
Sources: Team close to naming new manager
BY JOHN FAY | JFAY@ENQUIRER.COM

The Reds may be getting close to naming a manager, sources with the team say. One candidate who has recently emerged is ESPN analyst Dusty Baker.

Baker previously managed the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants.

The Reds are known to have interviewed Baker. The team has spoken to at least one minority candidate, as is mandated by Major League Baseball. If hired, Baker would be the first African-American manager in Reds history.

Expect Homer Bailey's arm to be shot within three seasons and Scott Hatteberg to take every AB away from Joey Votto because he's a Dusty type of guy (read: old).

This would be a disaster. The Reds need to rebuild around Votto/Bruce/Bailey with an eye on competing in a few years. Dusty is quite possibly the worst possible candidate to oversee this type of team.

Eh, Votto was already getting screwed out of playing time. Homer wasn't as impressive as people thought he would be this season. I don't think he can mess up arguably the best prospect in the game in Bruce. It will be interesting to see how he handles Johnny Cueto who is the next good small guy pitcher, and should be with the Reds by the end of next season.

If this is true, then the toothpick industry in Cincy will go through the roof.

The Marlins should go after Dusty so we can finally beat them.

Adam Dunn would strike out 300 times with Dusty as a manager

No, he just wouldn't take his usual walk. Dusty wouldn't want him clogging up the bases.

I agree with every part of the original post except the part about Hatteberg. Hatteberg takes lots of pitches and Baker doesn't like that. Hell, there was a whole chapter about Hatteberg in Moneyball, and he's on record saying he's not ashamed to strike out looking if there's nothing he could have done with the pitch anyway. Baker wants no part of that.

Well it's going to happen. Baker agreed to a 3 year deal with the Reds.

Sweet, that makes 3 more years the Reds won't make the playoffs.

lol...Reds fan here. From what I have gathered, Dusty is going to ruin Bailey, get our strikeout prone team to strikeout more, while limiting the playing time of Votto. This cannot be good.

I expect the entire Reds rotation and bullpen to be on the DL by September due to Fatigue and for every tree within 50 miles of the GAB to be gone due to overproduction of toothpicks in Cincy.

With Dusty at the helm, expect the exact opposite to happen. I fully expect a Brandon Phillips, Norris Hopper, and Josh Votto for Jose Macias trade coming.

Neifi Perez is a must on a Dusty Baker managed team.
