Even if the MLB did, why would anybody?

I don't think they'd hold much value. Picks in baseball are far less valuable than in the NFL/NBA. Just because there are so many rounds, so many players who never pan out and the fact that it's often how much you're willing to pay that's more valuable than your draft position.

a team like the sox would value them pretty highly. one of the reasons they went after gagne is because they figured theyd get a 1st rd pick when he left via free agency. that turned out well. .

obviously some big names, but there are just as many who were complete busts and even more mediocre players.. then you got steals like these:
pujols: 13th round
piazza:
62nd round
mcgriff: 9th round
smoltz: 22nd round
etcetc

Yeah, just like in the NBA there've been 2nd rounders or worse (back in the 80's) who turned out to be All Stars. In general it's the same in baseball, though. The majority of baseball stars are drafted in the 1st round.

I don't know why teams would want to trade drack picks, but draft picks yes.
Think of how much value a top 10 pick would have in a mid summer deal. I don't think much would happen in draft pick for draft pick deals, but it would be nice to throw a draft pick in a deal for an established player (ie. Tiexera to the Braves this summer)
