Rios for Lincecum

Giants want to badly get a bat to add to that pathetic offense with the departure of Bonds and feel they have enough pitching with Zito, Cain and Lowry to sacrifice Lincecum.

what are peoples thoughts on this potential trade.

My thoughts: Sabean should be fired.

from wiretap.

"The proposed trade of outfielder Alex Rios for either San Francisco's Matt Cain or Tim Lincecum rests with the Giants' decision-makers, according to major-league sources.

The Toronto Blue Jays will not add major-league pitching to their offer, sources say, and they also are unlikely to move right-hander A.J. Burnett in a separate deal.

Adding Cain or Lincecum while subtracting Burnett would be counter-productive for a team trying to build the best possible rotation to compete with the Red Sox and Yankees in the AL East"

LOL at the Giants if they do this. Lincecum is probably the best pitcher in baseball this side of Johan Santana. He's 23. Alex Rios is an above average right fielder who is about to get expensive.

I'm surprised they don't want Glaus or Stairs. That seems like something Sabean would do. Rios is too young for them.

However, today at ESPN.com, Stark says the Blue Jays are not going to trade Burnett or Alex Rios,

"Indecisive" isn't the word you guys should be looking for.

"No" is much better.

I mean, unless the Jays are "throwing in" Marcum or something?

Scene: Cal Ripken, Steve Finley and Jim Leyritz are sitting on a couch in the Opryland hotel.

Lincecum is an injury waiting to happen with his small frame and that unorthodox delivery. If I'm Sabean I pounce on that trade for Rios.

LOL Lincecum shouldn't be in the same sentence as Johan Santana. Try watching some games.

Wow this would be great if it happened. Rios is great but Linecum is a future Ace. Outfielders can be easily replaced, but a young arm like Linecum is hard to come by.

Santana is better. Lincecum is going to be maybe the next best pitcher in baseball after him.

Could be, but it has yet to happen. Lincecum could just as easily be the rare physical specimen who is genetically programmed to throw a baseball.

If the best you can get for Lincecum is Rios then I need to stop watching baseball. He is a STUD pitcher and to get a slightly above average RF who is hitting arbitration is just plain (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Just plain stupid. I am so glad Sabean didn't get the Sox GM job. mahalo

Chachi, you missed the rumor of Lincecum to Seattle in a deal that INCLUDED Richie Sexson.

Sabean is off his rocker on this one; he has such a deep farm system that he might as well let some guys go.

When you get young arms like Linecum, you don't trade them away.
