How likely do you think it would be Portland? I know we have the Minor league team, but theres enough interest to support a Major league team, imo.

I would say Portland would definitely be in the running along with Nashville, San Antonio and Oklahoma City.

Just give them the Marlins. Has to be better than what Florida is doing now.

marlins should be nowhere close to florida.

How many teams have won 2 or more World Series in the past 11 years? Let's see theres the Yankees, Red Sox, and Marlins.

I would say what they are doing is working. Being stuck in mediocrity is not fun, I'm sure there are a few fans here who have gone through that.

The Marlins will never ever be a big market team, they have a small window and when they realize they aren't going to win in that window they rebuild. Some other teams could actually learn from them.

Will this happen before 2010? That is when Hanley Ramirez becomes arbitration eligible, and you can bet your (insert anything of value here) he'll be traded shortly after that time......

Vegas has more tourists than residents. I don't think the fan base would be big enough to support a MLB franchise. I think an average sized city like Portland would be a great city for a MLB franchise.

That couldn't be further from the truth. Las Vegas' population is close to 600,000, has more people than Portland, and is growing at a much faster rate than Portland. Add into it all the tourism business and Las Vegas is huge. You mean fans of other teams wouldn't want to take a mini vacation to Vegas and watch their team play?

I do think that the strength of the Mariners fanbase helps out Portland, but Las Vegas deserves one pro team before Portland should get another.

How about Puerto Rico (San Juan)? Its still America & theres a big baseball following (granted, its mostly NY teams but still)

didnt it fail when they played in puerto rico? or was the stadium just incredibly small

anyways to expand on my vegas idea, that city needs a team, just for experiment purposes. ive been curious for the longest time if a pro team could work there

and as said before that place is growing at a rapid rate to go along w/the #1 tourist spot in the country, hell im sure most of the casinos could work out some deal where they'd practically be giving away tickets at the casinos.

just as long as it was a dome (though im sure that'd be a no brainer) a baseball thing would be a good thing also for those that go but might not want to gamble plus they're trying to become more family friendly im sure kids would love to go to a baseball game rather than being stuck in a hotel for a weekend while dad goes to snort cocaine off a dead hookers ass.

Hiram Bithorn looked like garbage at least from what I saw when the Brewers played the Expos there. I remember finding out Wes Helms was going to miss 6 weeks after spraining his knee sliding on the tarp in a rain delay. Or maybe it was falling in the wet dugout or something.

Stadium was small and ineffective for MLB play. It could obviously be redone, but I doubt San Juan is a heavy candidate for a team.

Also, having the Expos as the home team maybe wasn't the best draw either, but still, there are a good 5 other cities that I would put ahead of San Juan for a team
