Josh Hamilton traded to the Rangers for Edinson Volquez and Danny Ray Herrera

im going out the door as i read this so i'll talk about it later.

looks like it gives the rangers there starting CF and the reds a potentially middle of the rotation starter and a midget RP pitcher. volquez has a nasty changeup though and just seems to be fixing his control. of course these 2 could be soon shipped for bedard.

Yeah it's not like they held on to Adam Dunn or anything.

LoL. Yeah, that makes my statement look pretty dumb. But really, why did they trade him? He just had a good comeback last year and now they just trade him? Odd.

Is Herrera really 5-8, 145?

Actually, Volquez appears to have been the Rangers number one pitching prospect. He can throw as fast as 97 with a sweeping curve. And Herrera has some screwball pitch to offset his lack of power. Sounds like a solid deal for the Reds IMO. I just hope this isn't something that leads to the trading of Bailey for Bedard. Krivsky, don't trade anymore young guys please.

Because they want new young pitchers for Dusty Baker to overuse.

Herrera is **** awesome. 5'8" of screwball, groundball fun. Who cares if he throws 86. He gets guys out.

50 bucks says he has a better career than Volquez. Volquez blows.

Sweet as hell trade for the Rangers.

supposedly herrera is closer to 5"4 than 5"8

as for my thoughts, its tough to say, he's had control problems his whole career but it looks like he's finally starting to figure things out. but for every guy that figures out his control problems you'll get guys like daniel cabrera or robinson tejeda or joaquin benoit (granted he's solid now but not as a starter) but he's got a filthy changeup, and i dont think he's our best P prospect but of the guys in the higher levels he's got the highest ceiling.

i dont think volquez blows and wouldve liked to have seen him grow but he could very well fizzle out, this is a wait and see type of deal.

who knows if hamilton returns to his drug habit or can even stay healthy over the course of a season. but our OF is worse than our pitching right now and this is probably the first time in forever that we have pitchers that are expendable. i love what jon daniels is doing to our farm system, keith law says it could possibly be 2nd in the league.

I'm counting down the days until Texas starts nine men without a pitcher in the field. Should be any year now.

Volquez sucks but he gives you one good start for every seven horrible ones.

Volquez hasn't even pitched one full season and is 24 years old. I don't know how you can say he sucks. I have not seen him but he can't be named the best pitching prospect of a team for no reason.
