Jim Leyritz Arrested On DUI Manslaughter Charges

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -Former Major League Baseball player Jim Leyritz was arrested Friday on charges of driving under the influence and killing another driver after his vehicle crashed into hers.

I saw this on ESPNnews as 'Breaking News' and was pretty blown away, but then I remembered he had a history with amphetamines and other drugs before (I know this is alcohol related, but still).

yeah I live down here in South Florida, where he wrecked was at an area near the beach with all bars and clubs... he killed a 30 year old mother who was on her way home from work at a restaurant at 3am.

DUI is such a selfish, avoidable crime.

This should show up in the Sun Sentinel tomorrow. Maybe there will be some eyewitness quotes in the article.

down here last year both Dontrelle Willis and James Posey were arrested for DUI, and people always downplay it. How many of us have gotten behind the wheel at least once when we probably shouldn't have? This is why we shouldn't ever downplay stuff like that.

Sad to hear someone had to lose there life, mother or not. I listen to Leyritz alot last winter on MLB radio, and I thought he always did a good job,but havent listend to the show this year,so I'm not sure if he was still doing it or not.

How in the hell are you going to use a statement of "How many times have any of us got behind the wheel when we shouldn't have" as a precursor to an argument about if we should ever downplay it or not.
