Heard lots of people hype this guy up this season as a rookie. What kind of numbers will he potentially put up?

The Reds would love to give him a month or two to start the season in AAA, but he can certainly make the team out of spring training. If I had to guess, I'd say reasonable expectations could be .275-.290 with 15-20 home runs, 25 doubles, 10 stolen bases and around 80 RBI or so.

So basically you are saying he is going to be a carbon copy of Ryan Braun from last year? Thank God there are less Reds fans here than Brewers fans.

I'm more talking about the scenario. Starts the season in AAA for 1-2 months then comes in the majors and puts up good numbers.

I guess that is a fair way of looking at it. The only caution I'd have about Bruce is the fact that he is just 20 years old. Braun was 23 when he made his debut and was obviously a bit more polished. However, Bruce is pretty mature (in terms of his bat) for his age. But because he is just 20, I'd expect a lower average in the .275 range and a ton of strikeouts, but expect a boatload of extra base hits.

Jeremy Hermida just put up a .296/.369/.501 line as a 23 year old in a pitcher's park.

The Orioles would have traded Bedard to the Reds if Bruce was part of the deal. I think, from what I've read, he could be a really good player.

Dusty Baker is going to **** all of the Reds young players up.
He's trying to get Adam Dunn to be an aggressive hitter, too.
Dusty is just awful.

It was a little game within the game.
Manager Dusty Baker challenged young sluggers Joey Votto and Jay Bruce to try and get through Spring Training without striking out.
He needs to swing some more. I talked to him about that," Baker said. "Strikeouts isn't the criteria. I think a lot of this on-base percentage is taking away some of the aggressiveness of some of the young kids to swing the bat. Most of the time with young guys, you have to put handcuffs on them not to swing.
He's trying to get Adam Dunn to be an aggressive hitter, too.
Baker doesn't just want the young guys to be aggressive. He was asked about left fielder Adam Dunn, who is a selective hitter with a high OBP.
"Dunn's not a kid. He's not old, but he's not a kid," Baker said. "I bet you he gets better. He's from Texas. There's not a cow in Texas if he doesn't get better. He wants to get better."
Dusty is just awful.
