Dodgers plan to break baseball's attendance record with over 115,000 as they host the Red Sox.
On March 29th, the Dodgers will take on Boston in an exhibition game. So far over 90,000 tickets have been sold and they are looking to sell 25,000+ standing room tickets. The Dodgers played in the Coliseum through 1961 after moving to LA. The previous record for a baseball game is believed to be 93,103 for a Dodgers vs Yakees exhibition game, which was a fundraiser for Roy Campanella. 92,706 fans attended a World Series game in 1959 as the largest official MLB game attendance.
The fence will only be 200 ft away down the left field line, so a 62 foot high screen will be used a mega wall. With the expected success of this event the Dodgers are also considering playing a regular season game at the Coliseum sometime in the future.

Heh, the 'fence' will be 200 feet away down the left field line? That will certainly make things entertaining.

Just to clarify, any ball hit off the fence, even if caught, is in play right, not an out.
I think that's how off the fence usually works.

What a dumb idea. Why can't they just let the game be a 26-21 final?
Its only an exhibition game.

Yeah, it's simply that, unless the screen has quite a bit of give (like the baggie in Minny), the left fielder will be playing 160 away from the plate...practically close enough to the third baseman to kick him in the ass. Every fly ball to left will be a long single off the wall, unless the fence is on quite an angle heading to the gap. Which would be even more entertaining.

As much as I hate Manny, he does play the Monsta better than anyone in baseball, but I wouldn't mind the ball getting caught in one of the holes, and watching him climb up to get it (or having it fall straight down and conk him in the noggin).

Wow if Mike Lowell has a four-homer game, it won't be a surprise.

They should do this for an interleague match, not an exhibition.

You can't have a 200 foot fence in a regular season game.

I think the exhibition thing is just a ploy to make money, the interleague match would make it pure excitement.

This is going to be like the good old days of Memorial Stadium (50 foot left field fence practically right behind 3rd base). Any lefty who pitches is bound to get shelled. I would only pitch people in this game who i know are going to get cut before opening day.

So the short distance is being compensated by a 62 foot mega wall? The green monster is 37 feet. 62 feet is frikken HUGE.

So anyone watching this game?
Kevin Youkilis just hit a 240 foot home run. Shortstops are fielding the ball off the LF wall and the Dodgers aren't even using a left fielder.

Just turned it on. The camera angle is, uh, different. Right now, the first-base umpire is blocking any view of the plate.
