RealGM MLB Open Thread-Week 1

Figured I would make this so we can discuss the first week of the MLB season. The season officially kicked off last week in Tokyo but tonight is the first regular season game played in the United States with the Washington Nationals taking on the Atlanta Braves at brand new Nationals Park.

I wish we could play someone else for opening night on national TV. Gnats always bother us.

Would sure be nice to see Hudson get rocked opening night.

Finally, ESPN made a good choice in terms of Opening Night, the unveiling of a new ballpark. I'll always remember the Nationals first ever home opener, and Baseball Tonight's Top Story was Gary Sheffield (then a Yankee) confronting a fan in the Fenway Park crowd. They spent a good 25 minutes on a non-story, when it should have been devoted to baseball being back in Washington.

I'm interested in looking at the new park and I will be watching this game. Hopefully this new park will result in a lot of people heading to games in Washington.

Agreed they should be focusing on the new park, but newsflash: baseball HAS been back in DC.

I would love to see a packed house is DC tonight. That is one city where baseball definitely belongs.
On another note, on one of my fantasy teams I have Kelvim Escobar, John Lackey, and John Smoltz. All of them are on the DL.

yeah i agree, i really hope washington has a packed crowd tonight. as for fantasy i have smoltz and lackey also

I have Curtis Granderson who went on the DL.
I have Liriano who went to the minors for a little bit and I just dropped Josh Fields who the White Sox are stupidly not playing.

I know. I still wish it was against he Mets or Phillies. I'm anxious to see Hudson and our bullpen tonight. Hope the environment is rocking too. National games were so depressing to watch.

Nationals games at RFK were unbearable to watch. I am so glad they got a new stadium up.
