D-backs played their opener on monday against the reds, then have tuesday off and continue their series against the reds on wed and thurs.

Shouldnt they play them mon, tues, wed then maybe have a day off and play another series. Ive never seen this before.

baseball has always done this as long as ive been watching for the 1st series of the year for some teams, you also might see your team have a 2 game series vs. a team too

what didnt make sense to me was the braves playing the nats opening night then going to pittsburgh for a series with them, wtf is that about?

^That was a bit odd to me as well. Maybe there was some sort of traditional rivarly between the Senators and the Braves? I have no idea.

Suns fever, the reason they do that is because Cincy is an open air stadium. Because weather is not so nice at this time of the year in the Northeast, you can have rain-outs and what not (like the Yankees yesterday). Now all of those people who had tickets for yesterday's game can come tonight and still have opening day tickets. If they plays a 4 games in 4 days series, you run into issues with the double header and the fact that the "Opening Day" game may be re-scheduled for the night or maybe later in the season. A lot of times, if a team has Opening Day in the Northeast, that built in off-set is set so that if there is any crappy weather, they simply play tomorrow without any scheduling conflicts. Playing in the NL West and in a desert region, I'm guessing you don't have too many Opening Days out east and that would be why you haven't seen it. mahalo

To a cubs fan that should be a blessing.
"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."
