Do you just not watch baseball or are you trying to be clever? The answer is 27 because 3 outs times 9 innings is 27. But if you're trying to be cute and say, "well the catcher could drop strike three on a strikeout and the batter advance to first, giving the batting team an extra out". In which case, your logic would be that a pitcher could get 4 outs in an inning leaving the possibility open for 36 strikeouts. But why stop at one batter, why doesn't the catcher miss every strike 3 and every batter reaches? So unless you are trying to be clever/an idiot, why the hell ask this question? mahalo

You're contradicting yourself here, Chachi.

The correct answer was "Yes, we know it's theoretically more than 27, but quit trying to be a smartass."

It could be 24 if you don't get to pitch in the 9th
