Wanna Brew? Go To A Pirates Game

Last year, I wrote about how the Philadelphia Phillies, disturbingly, had the cheapest beer prices in Major League Baseball.
For $5, fans could get a 21-ounce beer. That works out to 24 cents an ounce.
But this year, that great honor goes to the Pittsburgh Pirates, who not only have the second-lowest average ticket price in the league ($15.39), but also have the lowest beer price.
This season, the Pirates will be charging $4.75 for a 21-ounce beer, according to Team Marketing Report. That means they are doing it for a cent per ounce cheaper than the Phillies did it last year.
The most expensive brew goes to the Boston Red Sox, who are charging $7.25 for a 12-ounce cold one. That's 60 cents an ounce. I don't think that's Sam Adams either.

just by looking at this little snippet the article makes a 4.75 beer almost seem like it's supposed to be a bargain

Gotta bring in the fans somehow. Two days ago this joke of a franchise lost to a Community College team.

Seriously though, they're thieves. But if they can get it I can't really blame them for charging it.
My brother talks of the beers from the Trop in mythical terms, are they really that big and that cheap?

Actually I don't know. I buy Boddingtons from the mid level area. Never touch the draft stuff.....(but I don't think it's cheap)

Those prices would make me consider going to a pirates game if I'm ever in the neighborhood.

however, people who sneer at beer prices at a ballpark probably don't mind going to Star Bucks for a $4 coffee, same difference, no?

I went to a Pirates/Rays game last summer, it was a good experience but it felt like a minor league setting aside from the fact that the team isn't very good.
There was an injury so there was a solid 10 minute delay and they were playing clips from SNL on the jumbo tron to pass the time, and when the clip stopped playing the fans boo'd. It was like a family's night out more than anything, a lot of parents with young kids just talking to each other and not even paying attention to the game. We had to tell the guys around us who Carl Crawford and BJ Upton were.
The stadium is nice although set up like a minor league ballpark, getting in and out was very easy as pharmcat said and parking was cheap. The area around the stadium is really nice too, but I think the fans kind of hurt the experience for me. I'm not generalizing Pirates fans here, every team has some fans like that, I may have just been around the wrong people.

That's what a lot of losing years do to a fan base.

i think ESPN ranked pit stadium as #1 considering everything a yr or 2 ago
but yea about the fans, thats what losing does
