The BlueJays say that they aren't ruling out the option of trading the Cy young winner, do you guys think its possible that Roy will get delt

Of course it's possible, but it's going to take an amazing haul of prospects to get him.

It would take a HUGE package to get Halladay away from the Jays. More than anything, by trading Halladay the Jays would basically be forfeiting competing for a couple years and the fans would stop going to games.

The guy is great, but baseball isn't a sport where one player can carry you. The thought they couldn't compete for years if they traded him is crazy. If they brought in a real gm before they made the move they might be better off imo.

I personally think they should trade him for like 3 TOP prospects.

Looks like this story only has wheels because Ricciardi made some vague statements about trading him being within the realm of possibility and then Ken Rosenthal ran with the title "Jays' Halladay all but gone in Toronto". I guess he's out of invented rumors for the Dodgers, Yankees, or Red Sox.

...except for the part where he ties them all to Halladay at random.

While I agree that baseball doesn't rely on 1 player (no sport does, well not team sports anyways) but a true #1 pitcher is incredibly difficult to obtain. Hallday is one of the best pitchers in baseball and will be for a few more years. Knowing that every 5th game your team is going to have a great chance to win is not something to take for granted. He is super consistent and eats up innings.

Preachin to the choir there, I'd love the guy on my team. I just think the haul they could get for him makes it a very hard decision.

Not sure what package they could get in return, you'd think it would be a heavy hitter willing to make the move. Boston could probably go with Bucholz as part of any deal. Maybe the Brewers are not happy with Ryan Braun and would include him. It would have to be huge.

I highly doubt the Jays would deal him somewhere in the division, let alone the entire American League.

Ryan Braun wouldnt be traded no matter how mad the Brewers are, hes to important to the organization

Ryan Braun is much more than just the Brewers' franchise, he is THE HeBrewer. The Brewers are meant for him. As for Halladay, well, unless the Angels put something together, I don't think he'll be traded. The Red Sox could put together a great package, but like previously said, the Jays would be stupid to trade him to a division rival.

Should be interesting to see what happens with Halladay. I could see about 10 teams really take a chance on him.

The Red Sox seem to have more than enough pieces. They have Clay Buchholz, Michael Bowden, Daniel Bard, Lars Anderson, Casey Kelly, Josh Reddick. I would give up the three B's in one deal for Halladay, I also wouldn't move Casey Kelly. But a deal of Buchholz, Bowden , Anderson, Reddick or Kalish should atleast be a fair offer. In this deal the Jays get a pitcher ready to pitch in the rotation with Buchholz, one that is not far off with Bowden, a power potential first baseman in Anderson, and a good prospect outfielder with Reddick or Kalish.

The Yankees can do something that I don't think many other teams can achieve in this trade. That is taking on a contract like Vernon Wells or Alex Rios. Something along the lines of Xavier Nady, Phil Hughes, Jesus Montero for Halladay and Rios. The Yankees do end up giving up two good prospects, but do get the best pitcher in baseball, plus a solid outfielder despite being vastly overpaid. The Blue Jays get Nady who is in the last year of his contract. They also bring a guy that is ready to go in the rotation with Hughes, and a very good catcher prospect in Montero.

Any other ideas of what a trade might look like?

If I'm the Red Sox, I'm not letting Lars Anderson go. I don't know, it might just be that I'm too high on him, but I love his game. Bringing him up and moving Youk over to third would be gold.

I think it's a bit easier to get a good third/first baseman than bringing in the best pitcher in the game. Not saying I'm down on Anderson, but I'll personally pack his bags if he's in a deal for Halladay.

I just can't see the Jays dealing Halladay to a team in the AL East. Maybe if they know he won't re-sign and by far the best offer comes from a team in the East, but I find it unlikely.
