Jonathan Sanchez(notes), an unlikely candidate, pitched the majors’ first no-hitter this season Friday night, dominating the San Diego Padres with an array of pitches in the San Francisco Giants’ 8-0 victory.

Haha I started a thread, too. Can you like, combine them or something, I feel bad for having two.

The 1 baserunner was on an error by Juan Uribe.

Sanchez's father was at the game, first time he's seen him pitch as a pro in person. Great day to see him pitch.

Wow, really? That's something. If I were Sanchez, I'd have my father there all of the time now.

Even with the no-no, I wonder how bad Uribe felt being the only thing between Sanchez and a perfecto.

EDIT: Oh, and congrats to Johnathan Sanchez.

I wonder if Sanchez is still on the Giant's trading block, (he was before the game)?

If he is, he most certainly will NOT be traded until he has at least 2 more starts, IMO. You don't trade away someone who just had a no-hitter for your franchise.

This is great for Jonathan, hopefully the Giants will see what this kid has and will relize that he needs to be in the rotation

I agree it's great for Jonathan as well as the orginization, but he's been in the rotation for almost two years now. He was 2-8 with a 5+ ERA and couldn't hit the strike zone before this game. The right move was sending him to the pen. He was just awful.
