It'd be nice if we can beat the Sox for once.

what a huge 7th inning from lackey. after a rough 6th he easily gets through ortiz/bay/lowell

A couple garbage calls from the first base ump, but Lackey is the story, he finally put it together in the playoffs against the Sox.

argh, should have been a bases clearing hit if it wasn't that terrible call at 3rd. crucial runs though.

Not sure how terrible a call, looked like Hunter was off the base at one point anyways. Now the first base ump should be sent home.

Still doesn't matter much if you can't hit.

This team needs to get an elite bat in the offseason. I'm getting pretty sick and tired of the lack of hitting.

Can I interest you in a late-model Vernon Wells at the low price of a single-A long reliever? By "elite" you meant "nearly league-average hitter and the worst defensive CF in the league on an absolutely atrocious contract", correct?

How pathetic that the Red Sox could only score the 3rd most runs in the AL this season. A good team shut them down for two games? Preposterous.

(The Sox probably do have some lineup issues to solve going forward, but for god's sake stop acting like the Sox offense sucked this season. Jesus.)

The Sox offense does seem to suck on the road. I don't have the numbers, but when out of Fenway certain guys just don't hit. An elite hitter, which they need, would not have that problem.

Mike Lowell is the biggest of issue on this team. I love the guy, but he only hits at home and he can't run. He needs to be replaced.

I'm sorry you don't agree yankee boy, but good hitting beats average pitching. Nothing against Lackey or Weaver, but they are not elite guys.

The Red Sox are a better home hitting team, and Lowell is undoubtedly propped up by Fenway, but they aren't exactly anemic on the road either. They're fifth in the AL and ninth in the majors in road runs. Point being, scoring one run in two games is probably more a product of a rough small sample of games than it is a defining problem for the Red Sox. I didn't mean to call you out in particular, but it's a tad irritating to watch the Sox fanbase go from overconfident about their chances to chicken littling about how awful the offense is in a span of 2 or 3 days.

And Lackey's been a solid ace for about five years now, while Weaver's been an above average starter this season; i'd take either of them over anyone the Yankees have after Sabathia. Both guys are at the very least capable of shutting down a good offense.

This is no the first time this season I've been pissed at this offense. The four games in New York were pretty brutal. While I haven't been overly confident of this team, it is still frustrating to see your team put up little to no fight in a f'n playoff series.

Again nothing against Lackey and Weaver. But when I think of top of the line starters neither of those guys pop into my head. Looking at the Sox lineup they should be able to do damage against them.

As for today's game, I do have to worry about Kazmir. While I think the the Sox do get an advantage of playing at noon in Fenway. Kazmir has pitched well at the Fens. (6-4 with a 3.05 for his career). This year the Sox have gotten to him tho. The offense really has to come through today as I don't see Clay being able to shut down the Angels.
