Wow.
Can't say I'm gonna miss Doc not being in the AL east.

Re: Halladay to Philly in 3 team deal
I don't see it as much of an upgrade. Halladay is the better pitcher, but the Phillies are likely, at least IMO, to take the top NL spot anyway whether they had Halladay or Lee. And Lee was unhittable in the playoffs last year, so I don't see it as much of an upgrade for the playoffs.

Why is philly trading lee? I understand Doc >> Cliff Lee. But boy that would have been a stacked rotation if they could have kept cliff.

They wanted to get prospects from Mariners for Lee going to Toronto.
I'm anxious to hear who's coming our way.

Seems like a lateral move for Philly to me. Of course, can't really talk about it until we find out who else is involved.

4 years of Halladay > 1 year of Cliff, basically.

I personally think the Blue Jays will be the winners of this trade.

If the return is indeed Aumont, Taylor/Brown plus another great prospect like Saunders, yeah...this is better than most Jays fans were bracing for. There was quite a bit of concern that we'd get Santana'd, and the news that Lackey was signing in Boston sent me into panic mode.

**** your asterisk.

Hopefully, but it's expected for the best pitcher in baseball.
Watching him was the best thing in baseball. His numbers don't even show how great he is. So many times he's faced the Red Sox and Yankees and pitched so well.

Can't confirm anything. Lee is not necessarily involved in this deal. All we know is that there's Mariners, Blue Jays, and Phillies and Phillies get Halladay. Rosenthal says Lee is headed to Mariners but Tim Kurkjian can't confirm that. Phils would not make sense for them to give up Lee for Halladay. He was playing great for them in playoffs. But if somehow they don't ship up Lee, we might as well wrap up the World Series for Philly.

Rosenthal says Jays get Aumont/Taylor/Saunders/Morrow, Mariners get Lee and Philly gets Halladay.

Rosenthal says Lee is headed to Mariners but no one else can confirm anything. Stay tuned. Heyman and Kurkjian aren't sure and say J.A. Happ or Blanton could be still be involved and Lee could stay.
Yeah this from Jordan Bastian, Jays beat reporter: Spoke with Lee's agent, he has not been made aware of the trade. Lee does not have a full no-trade clause like Halladay.

Re: Halladay to Philly in 3 team deal
If the phillies trade lee then this deal is pointless IMO. Lee was f'ing amazing for them last year and flat-out dominated the yanks in the world series, Halladay is the better pitcher but Lee has shown to be an excellent pitcher andf I wouldn't trade him PLUS prospects for halladay.

Well Phillies are getting an extended Halladay. Lee's extension talks weren't really going anywhere and it was gettingg evident that he was going to bolt for whoever offered the most in the summer. This is a safer deal. And Halladay's has been a much better pitcher over the years. Way more consistent.

Re: Halladay to Philly in 3 team deal
Maybe Lee wasn't traded? I can't see them giving up three big pieces of their rotation and Drabek and Dominic Brown
This from MLBTR
7:04pm: Drabek and "other top [Phillies] prospects" will be involved in the deal, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com (via Twitter). According to Salisbury, Brown will remain with the club.
6:55pm: J.A. Happ and Joe Blanton took physicals and could be a part of the deal, writes Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press. Domonic Brown also took a physical today, who is said to be coveted by the Jays.

Re: Halladay to Philly in 3 team deal
The Phillies' long pursuit of Roy Halladay is almost over – at a steep price that includes postseason hero Cliff Lee and top pitching prospect Kyle Drabek.
Halladay and his agent are in Philadelphia negotiating the contract extension that will facilitate the pitcher's being traded from the Toronto Blue Jays to the Phillies.
Once the extension is complete, the Phillies are expected send three prospects to Toronto. A source identified those prospects as Drabek, outfielder Michael Taylor and catcher Travis D’Arnaud. The Blue Jays would also get a prospect from Seattle, possibly Canadian pitcher Phillippe Aumont. The Phillies could also end up with a prospect from Seattle. The Mariners are a key to the deal as they are expected to get Lee and his $9 million salary from the Phillies. The Phillies have a strict $140 million payroll so moving Lee appears to be a necessity.
Halladay will make $15.75 million in 2010. The Phillies are expected to cover the bulk of that salary with the $9 million they are freeing up by trading Lee, as well as a $6 million payout from the Blue Jays.
Halladay is expected to receive at least a three-year extension with an average annual value that could approach $20 million.
The extension is a requirement in completing the trade with Toronto. The deal may not be official until Tuesday because several players, including Halladay, need to have physicals.
Lee can become a free agent after the 2010 season. The Phils recently learned that he intends to test the free-agent market after next season.
Halladay has a no-trade clause, but would waive it to come to Philadelphia.
The Phils tried to trade for Halladay in July, but picked up Lee from the Indians instead. Five months later, Halladay finally appears to be on his way to Philadelphia.
Phils general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. did not return phone calls Monday. Amaro began plotting to get Halladay as far back as the summer of 2008. Halladay won the AL Cy Young in 2003, and has finished in the top five of Cy Young voting five times. He has also finished in the top five in ERA five times.
Giving up Lee and Drabek, as well as other prospects? I have to question what Phillies are doing here.
