Angels sign Matsui to about a 6.5 mil, 1 year deal to replace Vlad as their DH. Thoughts? Matsui came up big in the Series for Yankees and could equal or surpass Vlad's production at DH. But it was big DH market and Angels could have gotten similar production for cheaper at near end of offseason.

I love Matsui and seems to be really clutch with people on base. Good deal for the Angels I think, I wonder what the Yankees will do now.

Very good deal for both sides.

Tyler Kepner of the New York Times has confirmed that the Angels and DH Hideki Matsui have agreed to a one-year contract.
The deal is worth about $6.5 million. Matsui, 35, will take over as the primary designated hitter in Anaheim. He hit .274/.367/.509 with 28 homers and 90 RBI over 456 at-bats in 2009 for the Yankees and should serve as a fine replacement for Vladimir Guerrero. Matsui is a .292/.370/.482 career hitter. Ugh. If Cashman goes and gives Damon 2/18 or something after this i'm going to be pissed.

I think it's a good move for the Angels. But that team has sure lost a lot already this offseason.
