The lesson of the last twelve months: if you write a big cheque, teams will apparently give you whatever the hell you want.
He's doing quite a job with that team, though. I wasn't a fan of the Figgins deal initially, because it seemed like a classic example of overrating a pretty mediocre team that overperformed: the Mariners were -52 in RS/RA last year, which doesn't exactly speak to a team one move away from the playoffs. But adding Lee and Bradley at little cost in what should be a down year for the AL West is a different story...they look like a pretty complete club, still a little light on hitting but good enough to win 90-92 and take the division.

Mariners could provide serious competition in the playoffs next year. Deep rotations always do well and it's going to be hard for any team, even the Yankees to play well against Lee and Hernandez back to back.
