Wonder if the Bengals will get the 9 no votes today they need on the amended playoff format.

Re: Week 17
lets hope bills dont lose out on going to the super bowl by losing a close one in kansas city again, hamlin might have a second cardiac arrest out of disappointment.
and why did they give ravens a chance to get the homefield advantage against bengals with a coin toss but they dont give the same chance to bills against chiefs?

Well, Bengals lost the vote. Won the division and could get zero home games, and also are out of the running for the #1 seed. Essentially Goodell and the competition committee said the Bengals shoulda finished the game Monday or forced the Bills to forfeit, pretty wild.

They can still avoid the coin toss if they beat the Ravens on Sunday, which seems likely with Lamar still out. It's not a perfect solution but since they ruled out playing Bills/Bengals on Tuesday or Wednesday there weren't any great options.

So does this season officially have an asterisk by it? Curious.
The league clearly does not hide their bias for certain teams- flexed Packers/Lions game (SNF). A win by Seattle would eliminate Detroit from playoff consideration regardless.
The NFL should worry less about ratings & more about competitive balance. All week 18 games, should be played at the same time. It would fix a lot of these issues.
For instance, A Baltimore loss gives the Chargers no incentive to play their starters.

Well the Bills could have lost and not gotten HCA, but now it appears it would be at a neutral site, so it could work out benefiting them (since they could have lost to the Bengals).
NFL owners have approved a plan that leaves open the possibility of a neutral-site AFC Championship Game and could determine home-field advantage for a wild-card game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens by a coin flip.
In the wake of the cancellation of Monday's Bills-Bengals game, the following scenarios based on Week 18 results were approved for holding the title game at a neutral site:
• If Buffalo (12-3) and Kansas City (13-3) both win or tie, a Bills-Chiefs championship game would be at a neutral site.
• If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Baltimore wins or ties, a Bills-Chiefs championship game would be at a neutral site.
• If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Cincinnati (11-4) wins, a Bills or Bengals vs. Chiefs championship game would be at a neutral site.

Re: Week 17
But why would it be a coin toss anyway? The rule that was already established and agreed upon said use winning percentage, no point to change that a day before the final week of the season.SK21209 wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Well, Bengals lost the vote. As well, the Bengals lost out on being able to get the #1 seed. Everyone applauded the Bengals for not forcing the Bills to finish the game when their player literally died on the field. Yet the Bengals get punished for it, pretty odd way for Goodell to operate, especially since he refused to reschedule the game.

My biggest issue is the neutral field depending on the scenarios. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. You’re creating an issue where there wasn’t one. You almost had a player on the field die. You penalized the bengals. Now we’re doing neutral field BS to make the issue even worse. It’s just horrible and I’m debating not watching

I like what Zac Taylor had to say, "So we have the opportunity to play for a coin flip that can only negatively impact us... We don’t have the ability to play for a coin flip that can positively impact us".
