I was listening to Phil Simms on ESPN today and they were talking about Favre and how he'll do with the Jets.
Then he said he will be excited to see him throwing farther this season for more big plays so they take more advantage of his arm strength. He said in GB he just threw a lot of short passes and really didnt go long that much according to him.
Then he said something interesting, that when you have a guy with his arm or any good Qb who can throw far, he said "they become more dangerous at the end of the game because then they have to run 3 plays instead of 4"
that was the gist of what he said, but not exactly verbatim but pretty close.
Can anyone explain that last part he said, I really don't understand what he meant. How does having to run 1 less play make you more dangerous?

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

I think all he's saying is that because of his arm strength, all the team would need to get down the field would be 3 long throws, instead of 4 short/mid-range sideline passes.
That's what it sounds like to me.

To mee it sounds like when 2 minutes is up, you wanna score ASAP. And I think by having 1 less play could be the difference between a TD or a turnover.

Making Favre utilize the short game was the core of his resurgence last year. If the Jets want to be successful, that’s what they’ve got to focus on too. Otherwise they’re going to end up with the 2005/2006 Favre, who many people seem to forget looked terribly elderly.

Yea I thought the west coast offense helped Favre out a lot last season. When he's throwing short he seems to be more patient and he makes better decisions. When he's going long and/or is asked to make big plays all the time he tends to throw a lot of picks.
As far as the running one less play making a guy more dangerous part, I think Simms just meant that, because Favre has a stronger arm then past Jets, he's able to get down the field quicker and has a higher potential for making big plays. That, according to Simms, makes him more dangerous.
