Antwan Odom is playing in today's game.

I've been banging on sources all day and here's all that I've heard on any trades:

The Giants and Bills are both talking to KC about Tony Gonzalez. The Giants should be considered favorites but it's not even 50/50 a deal gets done. That was as of about 4PM EDT.

Detroit is shopping Shaun McDonald, Cory Redding, and wouldn't be opposed to a good offer for Jon Kitna. McDonald is likely the only guy who gets moved and even that is a small chance. The Texans and Titans have both inquired about his services. Redding is a real tough trade because of the $$ involved but he is coming off a great game and could be a real impact player if he's mentally and physically alright.

To the latest of my knowledge the Cowboys are not fishing for a QB. Or anything else for that matter.

The Ravens are quietly looking for a safety who can play nickel if needed. They approached the Chiefs about Patrick Surtain but balked at the asking price. They also called the Saints about any of their DBs, just to show how desperate they are.

Carolina would part with a 6th or 7th rounder for a backup OT that could affordably be cut next summer.

I wouldnt mind if we go after McDonald. Schaub needs another target. He is having a slow start compared to what he did last season, but he would make a good slot receiver for us.

Thanks for the update. I hope the deal gets done but I don't think trades get done this fast in the league, especially during the season. Is it true that Gonzalez is only making $1 million this year?

We'll give them the entire secondary and our defensive coordinator for Ed Reed :D

Whats going on with Roy Williams? The guy is only 26, going into FA. If Detroit doesnt see him in the long term future, why are they asking for so much? Woud a second and 5 get the deal done? I hope the dolphins can send them the second we got for JT and get Roy.

Lions Trade Rumors Swirling

The NFL's trade deadline is at 4 p.m. ET today. That means that if the Lions have any plans to trade Roy Williams or perhaps even Jon Kitna, they better start working the phones all morning and afternoon to get a deal or two put together. If they decide to stand pat and leave the roster as is, then the Lions would have to wait until the offseason to trade any players, and at that point nothing would probably happen until it is determined who the general manager will be.

As for right now, the rumor mill is continuing to produce various trade possibilities involving Roy Williams. That should be expected since there have been a ton of rumors about him ever since this past offseason. Many people expect him to be traded, but it doesn't look like that will happen right now.

By the way, (GM Martin) Mayhew also said that he talked to Williams and told him that the Lions were not shopping him. According to Mayhew, Williams told him that he wants to stay in Detroit.

The only way Roy Williams will get traded is if the Lions get a draft pick and a player in return for him. Detroit's asking price for Williams has been high in the past, and since we are in the middle of the season, it is expected that the Lions would want a player that can help them right now in addition to a first-round draft pick. Since most teams won't want to give up that much for a receiver, chances are he will be sticking around until at least the next offseason.

Jon Kitna's name has been thrown around the rumor mill as well in the last 24 or so hours. With it becoming clear that Kitna's days in Detroit are likely numbered regardless of whether or not he returns from his back injury in the near future, the Lions may attempt to deal him right now. That would allow Dan Orlovsky and Drew Stanton to finish out the season at QB for the Lions and would get the franchise an extra draft pick.

I said it on draft day and it's still true today: Roy Williams the Cowboy is more likely to be dealt than the Lions version.

The Lions are going to franchise tag him and then try to trade him because they will be guaranteed to get more. If they can't get 2 1sts or a 1st and a starter for him today, he stays in DET. That's what they will get once they franchise him.

Jon Kitna is done in DET. Either he's dealt or he's headed to IR.

Re: Pats. I have zero sources in NE and the players I know a little there don't talk on edict from Bill. So I have no idea if they're looking for a QB. If they are it ain't Kitna.

Ice, do you expect the trade deadline in the NFL to become more like the other active trade deadlines in years to come. Or will it never change?

Kind of a weird question, but I have heard a lot of rumors this year, in comparison to years past. Maybe that is just me though.

I never understood the reasoning behind the Pats getting a QB. They’re not a contender with or without any of the supposedly available QBs out there and Brady’s due back next season. Why waste future resources on such a short-term need? Piolichick isn’t that shortsighted…
