He should have went down instead of trying to get off the field.

I was thinking that but then clock would have been stopped prior to the actual spiking of the ball with 4 seconds left. If they stopped it at say 10 seconds, that would give Cowboys a chance at running a quick out of bounds type pass route. Hard to say which is worse.

Folk barely even kicked that ball, he heard the whistle before he kicked it. And why shouldn't they be allowed to do that? They have timeouts, why would they not be able to use them? How is that any different from using a timeout at any other point in the game?

Luckily enough, I boarded a train midway through the 4th when Atlanta led the Bears 19-10. Finding out via smartphone that they blew a lead with less than 20 seconds to go was a bit less excruciating than if I had actually watched them come back only to give it up.

A few impressions:

-Kyle Orton has made a believer out of me. He's not an All-Pro, but he's looked above-average or good in all but one game this year. I don't think anyone was expecting that.
-I'm still not ready to anoint Forte as the next great Bears RB, but he had a real nice second half on Sunday. I do wonder how good he could be behind a better line.
-Devin Hester is close to becoming a week-to-week threat at WR, which I never would have envisioned.
-Bears' play-calling was questionable, as it always is.
-Being 3-3 sort of sucks, but having your 3 losses come by a combined 8 points against good teams is a nice way to make yourself feel better about your team as a fan. 8-)

-Bears shut down Michael Turner and let a rookie QB have his way with them. Something insanely backwards about that.
-Matt Ryan is the class of this draft.

-The NFC is completely up for grabs this year. I think the Giants are the only team without some kind of serious letdown this season.

Orton really is good. I'm definitely hoping he keeps this up, so we don't have to draft a QB early in next year's draft and draft at other positions of need, like the offensive line, replacements for aging defensive players, and possibly WR.

He's on pace for 3700 yards 22 TDs 11 INTs. That would, sadly, be easily a top 5-7 year for a Bears QB ever.

Well, the Bears have done what every defense has done to the Falcons. Do everything in their power to stop Turner and let Ryan go to town. Ryan wasn't up to the task in Tampa or Carolina, but he has taken that next step in the last two games. Now teams will have to loosen up on Turner or Ryan will continue to burn them. At least that's what I'm hoping. Now they just need to learn how to finish these drives with 7 instead of 3.

I stand corrected.
