Matt Ryan wins offensive Rookie of the Year

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Tue Dec 30, 2008 5:17 pm

Matt Ryan was named the AP's Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Steering the Falcons' remarkable turnaround, Ryan won in a landslide over an outstanding rookie crop including Chris Johnson, Joe Flacco, Matt Forte, Steve Slaton, and Eddie Royal.

Congrats Matty Ice!

Best rookie class since 1983? Quite possibly.

Funny thing about the Rookie Class was there was no outstanding prospect (in the offensive end at least)..
All I remember before the draft was the Dorsey and the 2 Long talks...

That is quite impressive

Congrats Matty Ice!

Well deserved, this guy has the pocket presence and maturity just like Peyton.

Is it really THAT good of a rookie class?

Well, Mcfadden, but yeah I understand what your saying. People were calling ryan a bust (that ATL writer), and didn't know about Chris Johnson.

When does DROTY come out? anyone know.

I would certainly say so. When you can go down the alphabet and name a player for each letter that made an GOOD impact on their team.

-Avery, Donnie
-Bennet, Martellus
-Clady, Ryan
-Douglas, Harry

I don't have time to list them all, but you get the point. Plus I got stuck on E.

I’ll gladly eat crow after calling Matt Ryan Kyle Boller but, in my defense, coming out of BC there were a lot of questions and concerns whether his ability would translate into a pro-style offense.

Always nice to see a non-OL BC grad make it, too…

What makes this class even more impressive is that the defensive rookies were really good as well.

I'll be the first to admit I was screaming for Glenn Dorsey.

That's why I don't work for the Falcons.

Yay Matty Ice!

He hit a rough stretch at the end there, but for the most part he was unbelievable. I never been been happier being wrong. This was an excellent rookie class.

Well deserved and a great class as mentioned. One of the best rookie quarterbacks I've ever seen.

For me personally, it was the best.

I like defense and was screaming Glenn Dorsey as well. Nearly everyone I work with and the majority Atlanta fans I know wanted Glenn. I remember reading so many articles about Matt not being a leader and not being able to throw the ball far. Luckily the right decision was made.

Congrats to Matt Ryan. He truly deserved to win ROY. It's safe to say the Falcons have found their franchise QB.

For a good portion of the season, I thought Flacco had a slim chance but Ryan just pulled away big-time.

Couldn't be more deserving.
