It must've been more than any other team was willing to offer. They wanted two 1st round picks and got it, I doubt any other tea was willing to offer that much, even the Redskins. I don't know why they threw in a 3rd though and why would they want Orton?

All in all it's a decent deal

The 3rd goes TO Denver not from Denver.

Also, I think that CHI must have been the only team willing to do 2 firsts, which is why Denver said yes.

Orton is a place holder for Stafford, Sanchez, or Freeman, whomever Denver ends up with.

Well the NFC North just got a whole lot more interesting. Rodgers vs Cutler twice a year for the next decade will be fun to watch.

A challenge you all to name a Bears WR not named Devin Hester. That's what I thought. I'm not sure there's a team in the league where Cutler would have less of an impact.

But Denver's 5th rounder of this draft goes to Chicago.

Earl Bennett, Rasheid Davis, Brandon Rideau.

What does Cliff Levingston win?

Other teams were offering multiple number ones if Chicago had to include a third and Orton. After the fact the word is a third of the league was trying to bid for him. Denver supposedly valued Orton and that was a big difference. The 3rd for 5th is nearly an even swap as it is next years 3rd for this years 5th...plus Angelo is relatively adept at drafting in the midrounds.

To me Orton is a nonfactor in the trade...his value is competent backup...he does not have the skills to be even be a top 20 QB. He is immobile, has no touch deep, has no skill to extend plays, inaccurate especially down the field...what he can do is limit mistakes and can at least competently run an offense. I have rarely heard an opposing fan have a good word for Orton until this trade.

It is so rare to have the opportunity to get a proven young QB with Cutler's skill set that personally I would have given up more. I think the trade is more than fair from a Chicago perspective. I think it is fair to say that 50% of first rounders pan out to be decent players...maybe 10% are probowlers...want to see a sad group of players look at the history of 1st round QBs...see what percent pan out. I like the math that has me giving up two mid to late first rounders for a young probowl QB just entering his prime. This deal is a steal for the Bears...and ok for Denver if they could not repair the relationship.

The argument that the Bears do not have good receivers is laughable. You have to start somewhere...I'll take the 25 y/o QB and work on filling the WR position. WR is a much easier position to fill and we have time. Hester has skills to be a nice player opposite a number one WR. Olsen is a nice weapon. Forte is a potential probowler. That is a good start...

Everyone makes a big deal about Cutler's record...well he is 13-1 when his D held the opponent to under 21 points. Denver's problems were on the other side of the ball.

Isn't it funny how Orton is some good QB now that he's not on the Bears?

Everyone was dogging the QB play and Orton for years and now that he's included in a trade for Cutler he's a good player. It's hilarious..

Chris Simms is winning that QB job and if he doesn't out of camp Orton will be benched by week 4.

Either Trent Dilfer or Mark Schlereth praised Orton for his play at the end of the year. WTF Orton was absolutely awful at the end of last season.
