Cardinals expected to release Edgerrin James

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Apr 27, 2009 2:45 pm

The Cardinals drafted two running backs over the weekend, which is expected to lead to the release of running back Edgerrin James.

The Cardinals were holding on to James to make sure they were covered at running back. With selection of Chris "Beanie" Wells in the first round and LaRod Stephens-Howling in the seventh, the club now has five backs on the roster, excluding James.

James could be released before the team's mandatory minicamp this weekend.

Not a surprise at all, will his situation be similar to Shaun Alexander's last season or will he actually be able to land a job?

I think that EJ will find a job with another team. It's just a matter of the right setting. Who would be the takers?

Way to thank him for his playoff performance.

It makes sense, but come on... sheesh. I dunno. Feels off.

Edgerrin James is awful, and after the draft I'm not sure the Cardinals are even the best team in their division. This is a non-story.

The Cards had a nice draft and will be better than last year, who BTW do you think is better than them in the west?

Denver could always use more depth at RB
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Based on the injuries last year, you're probably right.

I liked the way SF finished last season.

One of my all-time favorite players. Edge could find a job somewhere as a back-up or 3rd string RB..but is he thinks he's gonna get significant touches anywhere next year he's dreaming.

Me too and stealing Crabtree was huge for them. I'd say they're the wild-card of that division, they could turn out to be really good or turn out to be the same old 9ers. A healthy Seattle is the best team on paper, the Cardinals are the NFC Champs and the Rams are still have a ways to go. Personally I think it'll be between Seattle and SF. The Cardinals are extra prone to the SB hangover syndrome considering the fact they werent that good to begin with.

Don't get why alot of people are so down on the Cardinals if anything they improved this off season more so than any other team in their dvision, they got the best RB in the draft who's 10 years younger than James, signed Mcfadden, improved with depth through the draft, kept Boldin and Warner is comming back.

The other teams Seahawks, 49ers and Rams didn't really improve much. Yeah the 49ers got Crabtree but who's going to be throwing to him and is he even going to be a solid WR? The Seahawks improved by adding Curry but Hasselback is no Warner and T.J is no Fitzgerald while the Rams still need to add alot of players to be able to even compete.

The Seahawks improved much more than "just adding Curry" and they're my pick for the best team in the division. Don't forget that the seven injured WRs are all returning to full health for this season. Hasselbeck has a couple weapons, and his line should be better.
