Witherspoon to the Eagles for 5th and Gibson

Post#1 » by Ong_dynasty » Tue Oct 20, 2009 10:05 pm

As an Eagles fan I like the move..we need a MLB bad...and even though i havnt watched enough of witherspoon cant be as bad as trotter and gaither right?
We gave up a 5th and a rooke WR Brandon Gibson (who eagles fans had high hopes for) but you gotta give something to get something right?!

The way Witherspoon got carted off last week I thought for sure he was done for the year. I like the move for Philly. Spoon plugs a hole with better-than-average talent and raises the whole depth. The thing to worry about is that he didn't fit well with Spagnuolo's scheme in STL, which is based on what PHI uses.

I know on draft day STL could have had a lot more for him. Brandon Gibson fills the Laurent Robinson role and has upside, but it's less than what JAX offered back in April.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

^^well hopefully the terminology we use is easier for witherspoon..

What I don't understand fully is that Spoon is known as a very good coverage LB correct?!?!While the most successful LB's we had in the JJ defense has been the downhill, blow up the center but quite bad in average type MLB.
Can he fit the role? as I assume he will play MLB this year and possible Will when Bradley comes back.
