Gaines Adams dead at 26

Former Clemson University football star Gaines Adams, 26, died this morning after he was taken to the Emergency Room at Self Regional in Greenwood, County Coroner James T. Coursey said.

Adams, a defensive end, was the fourth player chosen in the 2007 National Football League draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was traded from Tampa Bay to the Chicago Bears in October.

An autopsy will be performed today by a forensic pathologist in Anderson County, Coursey said.

Nobody knows I wouldn't be surprised if it was drug related I mean 26 year old don't drop dead unless they were killed, drugs, or maybe had a condition.

We'll see what the autopsy results are, but it's most likely from a heart attack.

Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams died Sunday morning after going into cardiac arrest because of an enlarged heart, Greenwood County Coroner Jim Coursey said.

Not at all.

This is the second athlete that has died from an enlarged heart this week. The other athlete was a College Basketball player named Jeron Lewis who died on the court. In 2005 Jason Collier who played for the Atlanta Hawks was 28 years old when he died from it.

Cardiomegaly ain't no joke. Last I checked, I believe the larger the heart is the more pressure it puts on the arteries to pump more blood in and out of the heart. Eventually the heart suffers a burnout and unfortunately can lead to death.

The guy was so young.
