Bears hired Mike Martz as offensive coordinator

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Feb 2, 2010 2:49 am

Bears hired Mike Martz as offensive coordinator.
Martz was low on GM Jerry Angelo's initial list of candidates, but rose to the forefront after Rob Chudzinski, Jeremy Bates, Hue Jackson, and a host of others bowed out. Martz, 59, was out of coaching last year but is still widely regarded as one of the game's brightest offensive minds. It will be interesting to see how the strong-minded coach meshes with Jay Cutler. Martz's offensive track record says the Bears are making a high-upside, if risky move as head coach Lovie Smith enters a win-or-else season. Feb. 1 - 3:33 pm et

Have we figured out Warner made Martz yet?

A Martz offense with arguably the worst OL in the league??? New over/under for Jay Cutler games played is +/- 8.5

This is the worst hire I can recall since the Redskins botched everything and hired Jim Zorn as head coach. Further confirms my extremely premature speculation that the Chicago Bears will have the 1st pick in the 2011 draft...if there is one.

No, Warner has sucked every time he doesn't have the best receiving corps in the league.

It's like a zany sitcom where an announcer says in a cheesy voice "What happens when you take THREE failed head coaches and put them as Bears assistants?"

I'm pretty sure it was Dick Vermeil that made Mike Martz.

This may well prove to be a good hire, but I'm skeptical. When was the last time Martz was part of a winning team? We can look at it this way: We have half of the head coaching staff that won St. Louis a superbowl. Or this way: We have half of the head coaching staff (in Martz and Marinelli) that led Detroit down the path from which it is trying to recover. Still, we ought to see a bit more creativity out of the offensive scheme, at least.btw, the blue Spam for the mvp

I hope he performs the same miracles to Chicago's offense as he did for Detroit.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.
